Michael Benkowitz — President & COO at United Therapeutics Corporation

Mr. Michael I. Benkowitz has been President and Chief Operating Officer at United Therapeutics Corporation since June 26, 2016. Mr. Benkowitz served as Executive Vice President of Organizational Development at United Therapeutics Corporation from 2011 to June 26, 2016. Mr. Benkowitz joined United Therapeutics in 2011. He heads most companywide administrative functions, including human resources, information technology, corporate real estate and risk management. He is also responsible for many of the United Therapeutics' business development efforts in organ transplantation and oversees several of its key collaborations in this area. Mr. Benkowitz served as a Principal at Compensia, Inc. His consulting has focused on advising senior management and boards of directors in the areas of executive, board and equity compensation. Prior to joining Compensia, Mr. Benkowitz was the Western Region Compensation Practice Leader for Mellon Human Resources & Investor Solutions and Senior Consultant for iQuantic (which was acquired by Mellon in 2001). At Mellon/iQuantic, he designed executive pay structures, short- and long-term incentive programs and broad-based equity strategies. He also assisted clients with the development of employment, change-of-control and other retention arrangements. In addition, he is an attorney and served as a firm-wide resource on securities, federal and local tax and the accounting issues related to executive compensation. He received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from the University of Kansas.
