Executive Bio

Mr. Osama A. Eldessouky, also known as Sam, Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. since May 31, 2016. Mr. Eldessouky served as the Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President and Controller at Tyco Ireland Ltd from November 17, 2014 to May 30, 2016. He has been the Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President and Controller of Tyco International Plc since 2011. He was responsible for overseeing the finance shared services functions, external reporting, technical accounting, operational controllership, valuation and M&A accounting, treasury accounting, global consolidation, internal controls, accounting policy and training programs. During his tenure, Mr. Eldessouky led the efforts to redesign the controller's organization and the implementation of Enterprise Performance Management framework and he played a significant role in the wholesale turnaround of Tyco's business. He also played a key role in executing the spin-off of Covidien and Tyco Electronics in 2006 and ADT NA and Flow Control in 2012. Mr. Eldessouky served as the Vice President of Finance and Assistant Corporate Controller at Tyco International Ltd. He joined Tyco International in July 2004 to lead the Accounting Research and Policy group where he was responsible for the accounting research function and policy structure for Tyco International. Prior to Tyco International, he spent ten years in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he held several roles of increasing responsibility lastly serving in PwC's National Office providing technical accounting guidance on complex accounting matters. Prior to that, he spent two years in PwC's Global Capital Markets Group ( GCMG ) based in Europe where he was responsible for providing support to various U.S. registrants and foreign private issuers on complex accounting issues. Mr. Eldessouky is a member of the Global Preparers Forum, an external advisory body to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). He is a Member of the Financial Executives International. He served as a member of the Global Preparers Forum, an external advisory body to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) from 2007 to 2013. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. Mr. Eldessouky has a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Ain Shams University and a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool.
