Mr. Robert D. Stone has been Executive Vice President of W.R. Berkley Corporation since October 14, 2016 and served as its Senior Vice President until October 14, 2016. Mr. Stone served as the Senior Vice President of Alternative Markets Operations at W.R. Berkley Corporation since January 2006. Since 2002, Mr. Stone served as a Managing Director of Berkley Capital, LLC, the private equity investment management entity of W.R. Berkley Corporation. He was responsible for Berkley Capital's private equity investment portfolio with a principal focus on the financial services sector. Mr. Stone has 20 years of private equity investing and investment banking experience. He served as a Managing Director of Securitas Ventures, L.P. from 1996 to 2002. He served as a Managing Director of Swiss Re Alternative Assets LLC. From 1987 to 1996, Mr. Stone served as a Member of the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Smith Barney. He has been a Director of GiftCertificates.com, Inc. since July 2002. He serves on the Board of Directors of Technology Investment Partners and Five Mile Capital. Mr. Stone serves as a Director on a number of corporate boards, including American Credit Indemnity, Global Specialty Risk, and Providence Washington Insurance Company. He served as a Director of Foundation Source Philanthropic Services, Inc. Mr. Stone earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University.
