This is a great place to work, but it is not without issues. I used to believe it was the best tech company to work for, and I am no longer sure of that. I have spent my tenure feeling insecure and othered. Leadership needs to learn the value of diverse voices at the table.

Folks at Amazon are incredibly smart. It is very energizing. Good managers create team dynamics that encourages collaboration and allows the bright minds within the team to fuel one another. Lesser leadership demand competition, and pitting talent one against the other for lesser results.

Amazon has been hiring new talent at higher wages and competitive rates while tenured talent - experienced and delivering resulting - are bound by established rates of increase and as result become disparately compensated when compared to talent hired at current rates - it is not fair at all.

The performance management process is horrible and only successful for those that the manager likes, others are left to dwell in frustration, limited growth or are managed out. It is incredibly biased. Those that have been at the company are grossly underpaid in comparison to new hires.
