I've been with Michaels for almost 10 years. And the level of care they've given their associates has gone completely downhill. They're even micromanaging our breaks taking away our vending machines and forcing us to buy stuff from the front end. The benefits are good but the pay is awful.

No matter how hard it gets, all the position cuts and lack of knowledgeable staff we stick together and try our best to help one another.

The district manager is a fair and reasonable man. I think he does a great job handing down some of the corporate decisions that aren't so easy for us to take.

The task of running the store us near impossible when you don't have enough knowledgeable staff. You can't keep staff that's been trained because they go somewhere else to get better pay and more hours nobody wants to work for $10 an hour 8 hours a week. Plus we're always on a skeleton crew.
