Constantly striving to improve their knowledge of our products, our customers and the world of boating in general
There are too many new employees in management roles. We need to have fewer "cooks in the kitchen", fewer stakeholders in every decision.

Allowing knowledgeable, long-term employees to have decision-making authority.
Allowing experienced employees to control projects and have decision-making autonomy (currently too many stakeholders in general for even small-scale projects, and too many new/uninformed supervisors in charge of more seasoned team members).

Daily meetings are first thing in the morning. Discussing what the work day will hild for us

Communication could be better, but current leaders are competent.

Wide range of skill levels and specialties. Good communication between all members of the team.

Common for people to move from one category team to another in the Merchandising Department, otherwise most work for the same Departments during their entire employment.
What do people at West Marine think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
I have no idea what other people think of our CEO. I have never met him, but he seems intelligent and knowledgeable about the industry.
How's the work life balance at West Marine?
That depends on department and responsibilities, but I get the impression that most people are not overworked and have sufficient time for pursuing their lives outside of the company.
