Be the best worker you can be. Work harder, longer and more productive that most others but without being arrogant about it. No one likes a show-off. But be humble in everything, and always ready and willing to help your coworkers. About actually asking for that promotion, well that's different altogether.

First, you have to know about it. Express your interest in getting promoted to X and state your case which you build prior to the conversation.

Do your work honestly. If your managers are not dumb or blind they definitely appreciate your work in any way. That's why they are that position. They know how did they reached there. Obviously hard work and honest way.

If anyone contends with you or tries to get you do it different let your boss know. Do not let others take credit for what you do. they are out for themselves not you.

Promotions go to folks who can think strategically about the company as a whole and identify what is needed and how they can support that effort. Our company is not interested in those that approach leadership and say, "I'd like a leadership position." We actually want you to demonstrate it in advance. And this can be done in EVERY position. You don't have to be supervising a staff to think about your role and what could be improved.

Best way to get a promotion is to do your job functions and exceed in that. Taking on additional responsibilities will help and make sure you are documenting that so you can have a conversation with your manager.

Ask for one. Keep track of what your achievements have been. Record milestones or accomplishments within the company that you contributed to or spearheaded. When asking for a raise have a foundation of accomplishments to back up your request, so it is clear what your value is to the company.

In my opinion, there is no "best" way to get a promotion. A promotion comes when you deserve it most. The best way to earn it is by doing your job, and even then going beyond the normal when possible. Putting in the extra work especially in cases where "emergency"/top priority work comes about, to make sure you show that you are more than willing and capable to do that work does help. In other cases sometimes you do have to speak to someone in order to prove yourself in a way that shows you are brave and assertive enough to say you deserve and earned the promotion - this especially in cases where a company may be too big to individually watch each employers work.

The best way to get a promotion is to be hardworking, dependable, go above and beyond and track your achievements. Once you go into your annual and quarterly reviews go over your achievements that you have accomplished that you feel should be noted and work towards a promotion at that time.

Decide what type of promotion you want (what type of position) and what the job requires, then develop those experiences and skills, possibly by volunteering to take on special assignments as they come up. Also make yourself someone people come to with questions, which means make yourself knowledgeable about your job and aspects of the company outside of, but that touch on, your immediate job. But first consider whether you really want the responsibilities that come with the promotion, rather than just the money or status that come with it. Some of the worst managers are people who want the money and prestige, but don't really want to supervise or lead people. They view leadership as a hassle and a burden on top of their 'real job' (as opposed to being their real job). As a result they make both themselves and the people they manage miserable

Depends on the job! You can trying quality over quantity. Using the positive attitude no matter what happens. Seek growth opportunity by asking how to do something higher than your job requires. Or simply put your head down to and just do the job efficiently. If the job is based on results or quality, or knowledge that can work. If it about just doing, one will have to request a higher position because no watches for aspiring workers.
