I make lists of things I absolutely must accomplish in a given day, then park everything else that comes up.

Before I start the day, I jot down 3 tasks I intend to complete and begin working on them. When I get those three done, I jot down another 3 things.

Yes. I perform daily tasks in the same way, at the same time every day. This way I don't miss any steps and I'm focused on work.

Every day is vastly different. To keep me on track, I plan a weekly to-do list derived from my master to-do list on Friday afternoons. At the end of each day, I review the to-do list to plan what my top priorities are for the next day. When I come into the office in the morning, I check my to-do list and start working down the list. I have frequent interruptions with meetings and people coming to my desk. So, I keep the list on index cards at my keyboard so it is easy for me to see and helps me stay focused.

showering, shaving and then my "30-foot commute" to the office. I still get ready like I'm going to the office regardless of the fact that the office is in my house.

Pair programming means if I drift into checking email or personal stuff, I’m wasting someone else’s time, not just my own.
