Spelling errors, too wordy instead of being concise; more than 2 pages long
Too long, not enough specificity, vague description, bad formatting/spelling. If it is more than 2 pages, i discard it. I need people that know what is important and can succinctly describe what they have/can do. Tell me what you did, how you did it, and what the impact was to the business/project. Use numbers to demonstrate impact. If I see another, "I'm a great team player with great communication skills." again... use action verbs and be specific Use the same font throughout the resume (unless you are applying for a role that is more artistically inclined), don't reduce the font size below 10 at any point, use spell check, check the for proper usage of properly spelled words (e.g. There, their, they're), have a friend or family member read it, and finally read it aloud to yourself. Good Luck!
Not enough information -- and too much willingness to keep to the "two pages" rule.
In general, a resume needs to be easily skimmable. Keep your work experience up front and in reverse chronological order, make sure you highlight your most important accomplishments in order of greatest to least per position, and run a spelling and grammar check after every edit.
Not elaborating on a particular skill.
Using a dated format. Internet has plenty of advice on this topic.
Too long, unusual fonts, font is too small or too big, saved in the wrong file format.
Margin errors, spelling errors, grammar errors and "unique" formats that some people don't like.
Thinking the resume is how you're getting the job.
Font salad, not bulleted, not concise
Education on top for people with tons of experience is wrong. Not having a a synopsis of what you offer this particular job up top is a mistake. Keeping exhaustive descriptions in really old jobs is probabaly irrelevant information that should be purged. More than 1 page.
I have no idea because I never had to do a resume
formatting ? people still do that ?
Spelling, different, inconsistent fonts or tabulation.
Too much irrelevant information, or information from over 20 years ago.
