Be more positive and upbeat
Find out what flatters the boss best and pursue it.
At CSL hard work is not recognized or rewarded.
First succeed at your existing footprint. Second have an honest conversation with you boss about your career. If that doesn't yield the results, you should feel comfortable going to your boss's boss or working with a mentor within the company. Finally, be patient. Proving yourself one time isn't enough. Prove that you can work at that level for an extended period of time without fatigue. Also show your boss and team what you look like when you fail. That shows your strengths and resiliency too.
Be consistent, go the extra mile, smile, be friendly, speak up, find a gap/need and fill it.
Give him "status updates" as you complete tasks.
Proactively take on responsibilities/work/tasks that make your boss' life easier. Do not be afraid to sing your own praises and "toot your own horn" when you successfully accomplish tasks. You must be your own biggest cheerleader/fan. It's not cocky, it's confidence.
