If you are still worried about leadership and the company’s direction leaving is definitely better. No. I was in a similar position and decided to wait out the promotion and stay in the position for a year. Absolutely nothing changed, in terms of leadership or culture and I ended up having to deal with that and more for not having the courage to leave when I first felt I should.

If you are not confident in your company's leadership, why didn't you look for a job last year? Do you really want to be promoted into a group in which you are already struggling? Take the high road, find a solid , sound environment where you fit right in. You will be promoted where your skills are most useful.
