    Depends on job

If you are told there is NO wiggle room, and it's a take-it-or-leave-it type situation. I was told that as well. You can try to negotiate benefits, such as more time off, OR request an off-cycle salary increase after 3 - 6 months.

If it meets or exceeds one's expectations - accept it !!

Yes. If the compensation package does not match the value you bring, then ask for what you are worth (give a specific number) and be ready to walk away if they do not meet it. If you ask for more, and they say no, I don't recommend you take the job.

You start the negotiation once you receive the offer
