
Every 3-7 years you'll need to look for a new position internally and if you're any good, this will be easy. If you received a poor rating during the last rating period you'll want to be well networked with people at other DoD contractors or you'll risk losing your clearance.
If you know what you are doing, meet schedule, and perform well you will feel very secure. They will let you know if you are failing to perform as expected and give you plenty of opportunities to get back to secure footing. You'll know if you are not making the grade.
