Mission Statement

The Newark Museum operates, as it has since its founding, in the public trust as a museum of service, and a leader in connecting objects and ideas to the needs and wishes of its constituencies. We believe that our art and science collections have the power to educate, inspire and transform individuals of all ages, and the local, regional, national and international communities that we serve. In the words of founding Director John Cotton Dana, ""A good museum attracts, entertains, arouses curiosity, leads to questioning-and thus promotes learning.""

Positive Reviews from Employees

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

It is a very toxic environment. Only positive is that some of the people are cool so you have cool people to complain with.

Constructive Feedback from Employees

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

The interview process is drawn out and redundant. You will answer the same questions over and over again just being asked by different people.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Senior leadership does not listen to staff and continues to make decisions in a vacuum.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

There are some very talented people at the institution but others are unqualified for their roles and their inefficiency makes it harder for others to do their jobs.
