Verbal abuse is a more serious problem in the workplace than you might think.
Twenty-four percent of women and 19% of men say they have been verbally abused or severely harassed in a non-sexual way by their boss, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The data comes from the responses of more than 1,000 workers across the tech sector.
More prevalent among young workers

Workers in the 18 to 25 age group had the highest rate of saying their bosses verbally abuse them (26%). The rate declined to 21% from there and bottomed out at 19% among 31 to 40-year-olds. Workers 41 to 45 also reported this sort of behavior at high rates (23%).
A bigger problem for minorities
More than 30% of African American and Hispanic /Latino respondents said they had been victims of verbal abuse or harassment at work. Eighteen percent of Caucasian respondents said they same.
