Having fun with coworkers isn’t a nice-to-have. For most people, it’s a must-have.
Sixty-five percent of people say having fun with their coworkers is “important” or “extremely important” to the company’s success, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The most popular answers after “important” (40% of the vote) and “extremely important” (25% of the vote) were “neutral” (21%), “slightly important” (8%), and “not important” (6%).
More than 5,000 people across the tech sector responded to the query.

Men and women see it as equally essential
There was no marked difference between the responses of men and women: 66% of men say having fun with coworkers is important to company success compared with 66% of women.

Fun is just as significant to younger and older workers
It’s not just young workers who place critical importance on having fun — the percentage of workers who say having fun is either “extremely important” or “important” reamins high among all age groups. A snapshot:
