Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

As the DEIB Resource Manager at Beacon Hill, Walsh is passionate about promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) within the company, stating that, “DEIB is about creating an environment where everyone feels included and valued, regardless of their race, gender or background.” In her role, Walsh is responsible for working with the company’s leadership team to develop and implement strategies to promote DEIB, as well as supporting employees with any concerns related to DEIB.

According to Walsh, Beacon Hill’s approach to DEIB is multi-faceted and includes a focus on recruiting, training and education. For example, the company’s recruiters are trained on how to eliminate unconscious bias in the hiring process. Additionally, Walsh has been instrumental in developing employee resource networks, which are employee-led affinity groups across the organization. Beacon Hill also offers DEIB-focused training and education programs for leaders including an inclusive leadership training.

Walsh believes that DEIB is essential to creating a positive and inclusive work environment. She says, “When employees feel like they are part of a diverse and inclusive team, they are more engaged, productive and likely to stay with the company long term.” Moreover, Walsh believes that DEIB is crucial for attracting and retaining top talent, stating, “Today’s workforce is more diverse than ever before, and companies that don’t prioritize DEIB will be left behind.”

Beacon Hill’s commitment to DEIB is evident in its recent efforts to increase representation in leadership positions. Walsh notes that the company has made progress in this area and that Beacon Hill has a strong tradition of women leaders across the organization. However, she acknowledges that there is still work to be done: “We’re not perfect, but we’re constantly striving to do better and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace.”

Looking to the Future

Walsh is optimistic about the future of the staffing industry as a whole. She notes that the COVID-19 pandemic has created new opportunities for staffing companies, particularly in the areas of remote work and virtual recruiting. Walsh highlighted that the pandemic has forced companies to reevaluate their hiring practices and be more flexible, which creates new opportunities for staffing companies to help them find top talent.

Also noting her excitement about the growth potential of Beacon Hill Staffing Group, Walsh believes that the company’s commitment to people and evolution will continue to drive its success while also continuing to set them apart from competitors.
