Genesis10’s Anniversary: Reflecting on 25 Years with VP of Recruiting, Remster Bingham

Twenty-four years ago, Remster Bingham received an unexpected call from Genesis10 CEO Harley Lippman. Assuming it was to provide a reference for a former colleague, Remster was surprised to learn that Harley was instead recruiting him for a role within Genesis10. Remster quickly found himself on a plane to Genesis10’s headquarters in New York City to meet Harley in person.

During his interview with Harley, Remster was struck by Harley’s compassion for his employees and the strong sense of community within Genesis10. Reflecting on that moment, Remster recalls, “In my first meeting with Harley, it was evident how much he  truly values the importance of being a good father while also running the business.” Seeing Harley’s son, Adam, in the office resonated with Remster, who was considering starting a family himself. He recognized that the culture Harley had created aligned with his own values and needs, prompting him to join Genesis10.

Starting as a recruiter, Remster became the company’s first remote employee, supporting branch locations across the country. Over the years, he rose to the role of Vice President of Recruiting in 2014, now leading a team of over 100 recruiters. As Genesis10 has expanded, Harley’s commitment to family values has remained steadfast. Recently, Remster shared a meal with Harley, in his house, with his children, mother, and grandchildren, underscoring the deeply ingrained family-centric culture within Genesis10.

Remster fondly remembers the unwavering support he received from Harley and Glenn Klein, President and CFO at Genesis10, throughout his career with the company. While there are countless examples, two instances stand out vividly. First, when he was called up by the US Army Reserves, Genesis10 provided comprehensive support to his wife, including emotional, financial, and medical assistance without him even having to ask. Second, during his father’s end-of-life, Genesis10 not only encouraged, but demanded that he prioritize being with his father over work commitments.

Remster finds fulfillment in his leadership role, being able to carry on Genesis10’s culture of compassion. He reflects, “The most rewarding part of my role is that I can continue to foster our corporate culture of compassion. Over the years, I have been able to support so many of our employees through exciting and difficult times in their lives. We have had recruiters battle years of cancer where I have been able to offer them the flexibility and financial support they’ve needed. We’ve helped employees through the deaths of parents, spouses, and children. We’ve given new and existing parents the same support and flexibility I received to be amazing dads and moms for their kids. As a leader and a person, it is these experiences that give me purpose and fulfillment.”

Under Remster’s leadership, Genesis10’s recruiting team boasts one of the industry’s lowest turnover rates. “Our recruiters average more than five years working at Genesis10, with 20% having dedicated nearly a decade to Genesis10. The longevity enables recruiters to become experts in supporting individual clients and understanding specific technologies.”
