Our 12-week summer program is designed to provide virtual and onsite interns with the support and experiences they need to thrive on the job, and post graduation. We accomplish this through comprehensive pre boarding and onboarding activities, and exciting projects which directly impact the success of HashiCorp.

Interns are supported by their managers as well as mentors outside their respective teams who act as sounding boards, and buddies that sit on their immediate teams to assist with day-to-day tasks.

To guide their development, feedback is provided to all interns at the midpoint and end of their internship to know their strengths and areas of improvement.

What kind of development/growth opportunities do you offer for people starting a career?

Our interns take part in skill building workshops that help them learn best practices for things such as time management, resume building and interviewing. They also gain familiarity with upcoming technology such as Kubernetes and Golang in addition to HashiCorp products such as Vault and Terraform.

We also provide opportunities for interns to meet leaders from different business functions, giving interns exposure to different teams, and career pathways.

Upon completion of the program, all interns are required to prepare a presentation called “lightning talks,” reflecting on their successes during the internship which enables them to strengthen their public speaking skills.

  • Access to Professional Development and Leadership Development content online. This self-paced content can be accessed and completed on the best timeline for the employee. The leadership path focuses on the bank’s leadership competencies: commitment to mission, living/working with purpose, emotional intelligence, managing transitions, authentic leadership, building cohesive teams, championing a learning organization, providing organizational clarity, and interdependence.
  • Employees are encouraged to develop a Career Growth Plan (CGP). The CGP is a documented plan any employees create to focus on the skills they want to develop or hone to advance their career in the manner they are interested in. We recommend that employees collaborate with their manager for the full benefit and support of their CGP.
  • We currently have five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These ERGs are First Women Connections, People of Color, Emerging Leaders, Veterans, and PRIDE. We also have two new ERGs on the horizon in 2024. All employees are encouraged to join any or all ERGs and are invited to participate as members and allies.
  • Managers and employees are also encouraged to use our annual performance reviews as opportunities for feedback and growth

  • Meyers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) – this tool is designed to help employees learn more about themselves and other fellow employees to improve or enhance working relationships.
  • Crucial Conversations – a two-day session currently offered to all managers across the company to help them learn more about having an impactful dialogue with others when emotions are involved and the stakes are high.
  • Leadership Experience Ascend Path – this path is a cohort-based leadership program, currently in pilot, with plans to be conducted once annually. The path provides advanced leadership training to participants through projects, self-discovery, facilitated learning, and coaching. This path is available through a nomination/application process, which began with senior leaders. It will cascade through other levels of leadership.
