More than 1000 employees working in tech were surveyed to see if they have been promoted in the past five years. The data was segmented by Gender, Ethnicity, Department, Age, Education, and Location.
Asian or Pacific Islanders were the most promoted Ethnicity, while African Americans were the least. Among a list of departments, 76 percent of employees who worked in HR said to have been promoted in comparison to only 53 percent of those working in Customer Support. Seventy-three percent of employees ages 26-30 have been promoted. However, younger employees (18-25), only 41 percent said they were promoted.
From the list of Education levels, 68 percent of those with a Bachelors degree said yes, while only 49% of Doctoral or Professional said yes. Seattle had the highest percent at 77, while Chicago had the least at 56.
