73% of Engineers Say Their Jobs Are ‘Very Secure’ or ‘Secure Enough’

Engineers feel more confident about their job security than any other tech worker.

About 73% of engineers rated their jobs as “very secure” or “secure enough,” according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The average for all workers in tech was 66%.

Engineers were most confident in their job security (73%), followed next by those in HR, IT, and executive roles at tech companies (all at 66%).

Workers in administrative roles, marketing, operations, and sales reported the least confidence in their job security, showing the highest rates of being “insecure” and “very insecure” about their jobs. (The average for tech workers overall was 15%.)

The oldest workers say they have the least job security

Workers age 46 and up have the lowest confidence in their job security. Workers aged 56 to 60 were the least confident, with 27% saying they were either “insecure” or “very insecure” about their jobs.
