Survey: 1 in 2 African Americans Say They Have Experienced Racism at Work

Fifty-one percent of African Americans say they have experienced racism at work, according to the latest reading of an ongoing survey by Comparably.

That was the highest rate among any ethnic group. The survey showed that 32% of Hispanic/Latino respondents have experienced racism at work, as well as 30% of Asian or Pacific Islander respondents. Twenty percent of Caucasians also say they have experienced racism at work.

More than 10,000 people across the tech industry responded to the survey.

Women experience slightly more racism than men

The survey also found that women may experience slightly more racism than men. According to the results, 23% of men say they have been victim subjected to racism at work while 31% of women say the same.

Generation Z says they have experienced the most racism

While all of the age groups were relatively close in their experience with racism at work (the scale ranged from 26% to 30%), people in the 18 to 25-year age group say they have experienced the most racism (30%), followed next by those in the 36 to 40 age group (28%).
