Recruiters still aren’t the most popular way to find jobs, but men rely on them more than women, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably.
The data shows that men were more likely to use a recruiter than women (22% of men vs. 15% of women). Another difference is that 39% of women were likely to apply online compared to 29% of men.
More than 10,000 people, predominantly across the tech sector, participated in the survey.

Overall results
We’re living in a time of great technological change, but that hasn’t changed the way people get interviews. According to the data, 34% of people say they got their first interview for their current job by applying online and 26% say they got it through a referral. The next most popular ways were “recruiter” (19%), “other” (12%) and “networking” (9%).
More than 1,000 people responded to the query.

Experience counts
While both “applied online” and “referral” were the most popular answers for all age groups, it appears workers with 10 years of experience or more were more likely to get a referral than to apply online. Sampling below:
