Paid maternity and paternity leave aren’t federally mandated in the U.S., leaving companies to take it upon themselves to offer it. And led by corporate giants such as Amazon, Facebook, and Google, tech companies of all sizes are leading the charge.
Nearly 66% of workers in tech say their employers offer paid parental leave, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. That’s more than outside of tech, where 53% of workers say their employers offer paid parental leave.
A closer look at tech
Looking at tech specifically, workers in communications, engineering, IT, operations, and HR reported the highest rates of working at companies that offer paid parental leave.
Workers in legal roles reported the lowest rates.

City by city
At 81%, workers in Seattle reported the highest rates of working at companies that offer paid parental leave. San Francisco (79%) and Boston (75%) were close behind.
Minneapolis checked in as the city with the lowest concentration of workers who reported working for companies that offer paid parental leave.

The latest reading is as of Sept. 25 and includes the responses of more than 1,000 workers across all industries.
