Job seekers focused on putting their best foot forward should make sure they’re armed with examples of their excellent work ethic.
That’s because work ethic is the number one quality people look for when they’re hiring someone, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The other choices were “integrity,” (22%), “good culture fit” (21%), “resourcefulness” (16%) and “prior experience” (8%).

More than 5,000 people across the tech industry participated in the query.
From a department perspective
Workers of all ethnicities, experience levels and ages rated “work ethic” as the top choice, though the results skewed when examined from a department standpoint.
People in the HR department said the number one quality they look for is “good culture fit” (36%), which people in executive roles rated “integrity” (30%) the most attractive quality in a candidate.
