25% of People Say They Are Expected to Work During Vacation

It’s Labor Day weekend, a time when many people pack up early and venture off to the beach to soak in the last remaining days of summer.

But for some people, the weekend holiday won’t be a break. In fact, 25% of workers in tech say their boss expects them to work while they’re on vacation, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably. The data is derived from more than 1,000 workers across the technology industry.

Experience counts
Workers who have 3 to 6 years experience at their companies are least likely to say that their boss expects them to work while they’re on vacation. Workers with a decade or more in the company are most likely to say the same.

Workers in executive roles, business development, and communications report the most pressure from their bosses during vacation, while workers in customer support report the least.
