Richard P. Wong — Partner, Managing Director, and General Partner at Accel Partners

Mr. Richard P. Wong, also known as Rich, serves as a General Partner at Accel since December 2006. Mr. Wrong also serves as its Managing Director and Partner. Mr. Wong joined Accel in 2006 with a focus on software, mobile and Internet services and energy technologies. He works closely with the management team at Getjar Networks. He served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Products at Openwave Systems Inc., where he launched several of the Openwave's most successful new products such as the edge security gateway, integrated messaging and location-based services. He served as General Manager of Messaging Products at Openwave Systems from August 2003 to 2005 and served as its Chief Marketing Officer from 2001 to 2003. While at the Openwave Systems Inc., he founded and chaired the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group. He served as General Manager of Messaging Applications at Unwired Planet, Inc., since August 2003. Mr. Wong has an M.B.A. and MS in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1992 and a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
