Executive Bio

Mr. James D. Wilson Jr., also known as Jay, has been Senior Vice President of Technology and Strategy at ADTRAN Inc. since 2015. Mr. Wilson served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Carrier Networks Division at ADTRAN Inc. since August 4, 2006 until 2015. Mr. Wilson is responsible for all carrier engineering, marketing, sales and support functions of ADTRAN. Mr. Wilson joined ADTRAN in 1998 and leads product management, marketing, bids and proposals, technical support and training. He has played a key role in the development and introduction of several of ADTRAN's product lines that are widely deployed by telecommunications carriers. He served as Vice President of Product Marketing for the Carrier Networks Division of ADTRAN Inc., from April 25, 2005 to 2006. He has more than 13 years experience in product development, marketing and sales. Mr. Wilson served ADTRAN in a number of roles including Product Support Engineer, Product Manager and Director of Product Management of Carrier Networks from 2002 to 2005. During his tenure, he has played a key role in the introduction of ADTRAN's sixth generation of HDSL, as well as HDSL2, SHDSL and HDSL4 product lines. Additionally, he led the product management team during the development of the DSLAM and optical product lines. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the Director of Product Management of Loop Technologies of Carrier Networks. From 1996 to 1998, he served as the Manager of Engineering Operations of Wyle Laboratories, Inc. and also served as its Manager of Program Development from 1992 to 1996. Mr. Wilson was responsible for sales, marketing and engineering management for Wyle's testing and engineering services to the telecommunications, aerospace, defense and nuclear equipment qualification industries. Mr. Wilson holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
