He served as a Member of Managing Board at The Royal Bank of Scotland N.V. He joined ABN AMRO in 1994 as an Investment Manager for AAC Capital Partners (ABN AMRO Private Equity). In 1998, he entered politics as a Member of Parliament. In 2002, he was appointed as State Secretary of Economic Affairs after which he became State Secretary of Finance. In 2006, he was appointed Cabinet Minister of Economic Affairs. From 2007 to 2009, he served as the Senior Executive Vice President at Rabobank. In 2009, Mr. Wijn joined the ABN AMRO & Fortis Bank Nederland Transition Team responsible for the integration of ABN AMRO and Fortis Bank Nederland with a focus on Commercial and Merchant Banking. He served as a Member of Managing Board at RBS Holdings N.V (formerly, ABN AMRO Group) since April 2010 and Fortis Bank Nederland until April 1, 2010 and was responsible for Commercial and Merchant Banking. He has been a Member of Supervisory Board at Royal Schiphol Group N.V. (formerly known as N.V. Luchthaven Schiphol)since June 1, 2012. Mr. Wijn serves as a Member of Board at VNO-NCW (Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers) and Member of Supervisory Board of Royal Jaarbeurs Utrecht (Congress & Meeting Centre, Fairs and Events). He served as a Director of Co??peratieve Rabobank U.A. He completed Masters Degree in Dutch Law from University of Amsterdam in 1994 and Masters Degree in Economics from University of Amsterdam in 1991.
