Samuel Shoen — U-Box Program Manager & Director at Amerco

Mr. Samuel J. Shoen, also known as Sam, MD, MBA, has been U-Box Program Manager at AMERCO since August 7, 2017. Mr. Shoen served as Project Manager of U-Box and at AMERCO and served as its Manager of Special Projects. Mr. Shoen served as the President of Republic Western Insurance Company, Inc. at AMERCO since May 2010. Dr. Shoen leads Republic Western's operations across North America. He joined Republic Western in 1990. He begun his career as a physician. He has spent 35 years in management positions in business and government. From 1973 to 1988, he held executive positions with the U-Haul System of companies, including its Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff at U-Haul from 2006 to 2011 and also the President of U-Haul International. Dr. Shoen Co-Founded a market research company in 1988 and served as its President until 1991. From 1991 to 1993, he served as Special Assistant to the Administrator of the United States Agency For International Development. Since 1994, he has been President of a financial management company. He serves as a Trustee of Marylhurst University. He has been a Director of AMERCO since April 15, 2015. He also serves as a Director of U-Haul International, Inc. Dr. Shoen has an undergraduate degree from The College of The Holy Cross an MD degree from the University of Arizona and MBA from The Harvard Business School.
