View ArticleWhat surface can Vector live on?
Vector is a home robot. With his small stature and treads, hes able to navigate on some carpet, but he is happiest when hes on a table top or counter.
His surface should be hard and flat, opaque and non-reflective (glass or glossy finishes). The edges should not be rounded. A non-vibrating surface helps keep his charger stable and stops Vector thinking he's being petted when he's not!
Try to avoid high-pile carpets where dust and lint may get stuck in his treads.
How far can Vector roam?
Vector does need a good WiFi connection so how far he roams will depend on that and he needs to be close enough to his charger to go home when he needs to top up his battery level.
Why does Vector fall when he has cliff sensors?
Vector has 4 cliff sensors to help him detect edges and keep him falling off a table top.
That said, beveled and rounded edges will be challenging for those sensors.
Additionally, Vector can be blinded by direct light (natural from sun through windows or artificial). Poor lighting equally makes it hard for Vector recognise edges.
Vector may struggle to recognize edges if the surface he is on is dark, reflective, glossy, transparent or patterned.
Occasionally, Vector may get stuck half on and half off a table because he drives forward, realises there's an edge, but is unable to back up due to his front already being over the edge.

View ArticleCozmo uses his lift to express his mood as well as to play with his power cubes.
To avoid damaging his lift please keep the following important guidelines in mind:
Do not lift anything that is heavier than 1 cube - it can damage the gearing
When Cozmo is awake do not push down on the lift since this can also damage the gearing
Ensure that Cozmo does not fall off the table (e.g. deliberately driving off cliffs in Explorer mode etc)
A damaged lift can exhibit the following symptoms:
Cozmo recognises the cubes but is unable to move his lift to pick them up and/or stack them correctly
Cozmo may be unable to Feed (more information in this article)
His lift changes position when Cozmo is put on the charging platform or turned off
Gently moving the lift when Cozmo is turned off exhibits any of the following:
The lift does not move smoothly but gets stuck / requires pressure
There is no consistent clicking when moving the lift
The lift drops if you let go of it (instead of staying in position)
Important:
Cozmo's lift is not always 100% horizontal. Unless you experience any of above performance issues this is absolutely normal and not an issue that requires a replacement.
If you have observed any of above listed signs of a damaged lift please contact us and list the exact lift behaviour. Our team will validate the issue and advise on the next steps.

View ArticleLearn below everything you need to know about Vectors cube.
Sections:
What battery does the cube use?
How long does the battery last?
How do I change the battery?
How does Vector interact with the cube?
Why does Vector ignore his cube?
What battery does the cube use?
Alkaline N / E90 / LR1 1.5 Volt batteries
Do not use A23 batteries - these will damage the Cube
Do not use rechargeable batteries - these will damage the Cube
How long does the battery last?
Batteries come pre-installed in Vectors Cube
Once the pull-tab is removed, the battery will start to lose charge
The battery will last 20-40 hours of gameplay depending on how much Vector interacts with the Cube
To test if the battery is working, reset the cube:
unscrew the lid from the cube
wait for 10 seconds
screw the lid back on
the cube should flash red>green>blue if the battery is fine
How do I change the battery?
Remove the cubes screw using a cross head screwdriver and open the cubes cover
Remove and safely dispose of the old battery
Insert a new battery, positive end up
Replace the cover and screw the cover back down (not too tightly which can damage the cube)
change the battery
How does Vector interact with the cube?
Vector's cube is like a pet's favorite toy, his possession, and from a technical standpoint, it's a landmark for him as he navigates and explores the area
Vector interacts with his cube on two levels:
Visually: He recognizes the cube by its marking (even without a battery)
Wirelessly (the cube will show in your device's Bluetooth settings, while Vector will not): He connects wirelessly to the cube if it is nearby. If a cube is too far away or the battery is low or dead, Vector may not be able to sync with it
Vector will tap the cube if hes so inclined
You can ask Vector to do a trick such as Roll the cube, Pounce or Pop a Wheelie
You can ask Vector, Hey Vector [wait] where is your cube?
Why does Vector ignore his cube?
Vector will not connect to his cube if he is sleeping. Wake him up by getting his attention with Hey Vector!
If Vectors cube is in the Vector Space, he will ignore it
If the cube has a low battery or the battery is dead, he will not be able to connect to it
You may try to force-sync the cube by opening the Vector app > Settings > going to Cube Status > tap Refresh Cube > once connected, tap Ping Cube to light the Cube up
Alternatively,
View ArticleLearn in this FAQ why Vector requires an 802.11n 2.4 GHz network to connect to the internet, why he cannot connect to a 5 GHz network, and how to check what frequency network you have.
Why does Vector only use a 2.4 GHz network?
The 2.4 GHz standard is supported by most home networks
A 2.4 GHz network consumes less power
It also extends over a broader range
How do I know if my router supports 802.11n 2.4 GHz?
Most residential routers support the 802.11n GHz band but you can verify this in your router manual or on the manufacturer's website
Above information will also indicate if your router is single (supporting 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) or dual band (supporting both frequencies)
A dual band router may broadcast two separate networks (that you can see with your device) or it may only broadcast one network for both bands
How do I know what frequency my network is on?
Often, in the WiFi settings of your smart device, the Network Name (SSID) may indicate what frequency the network is on
the name may include 2.4 Ghz, 2.4, 24G, 24 e.g. Anki2.4G
the name may include 5 GHz, 5G or 5 e.g. Anki5G
If you use an Android device, you can simply see the frequency in your WiFi Settings (tap on the network) but this is not possible on iOS devices
To determine the frequency of SSIDs that have been renamed "Guest" or other, you will need to log in to your router's settings. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will be able to advise how if you need help
What can I do if my router is dual band?
If your router is dual band and broadcasting a single network (and Network Name) for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, you may need to access your router settings to split the bands and give them separate names (e.g. "Network 2.4" vs "Network 5") to make it more easy for your Vector and device to connect to the same 2.4 GHz band. You may find more information in your router manual.
If you still run into problems when connecting your Vector to a WiFi network please consult this article.

A Single Cozmo and Multiple Devices
While it isabsolutely possible to use more than1 device with a single Cozmo, there are some things of which you need to be aware.
Only1 device at a time can connect to any single Cozmo. It is not possible touse 2 or moredevices simultaneously with the Cozmo.
When another device/player plays with Cozmo, progress earned and changes made to Cozmo stay with him.For example, someone else can spend all of the Sparks youhad earned
So, whendifferent people and their deviceconnect to yourCozmo, the next timeyou connect you may notice changes toCozmothatyou did not experience with him.

Once changed or deleted, Code Lab Projects cannot be recoveredand there is currently no way to archive or sharethese Code Lab Projects. The Code Lab Projectsthat you create only exist on the device on which they were saved.
What about Cozmo andMultipleSets of Cubes?
When Cozmo wakes, he always pairs with the 3 closest unique Cubes unless you have activated Education Mode and selected that Cozmo always use the same 3 cubes (see this FAQ for more details).
Three (3) unique Cubes make upasingle Set of Cubes.
ASet of Cubes consists of a #1 Cube, a #2 Cube and a #3 Cube.
Cozmo cannot use more than 1 Set of Cubes (3 Cubes) at a time.
Here's a picture of a single Set of Cubes.
Here's a close up of how each Cube is numbered 1 through 3.
To Cozmo, every #1, #2, and #3 Cubes are the same as every other #1, #2, and #3 Cubes, but Cozmocanonly ever sync and interact with one #1, one #2, and one #3 at the same time.
So, if you have 2 or more Cozmos that each came with their own set of Cubes, Cozmo will pair with the firstthree #1, #2, and #3 Cubes he reaches. Also, be careful because when you have more than 1 Set of Cubes near Cozmo, he may connect with one or more Cubes that you do not expect him to use.
If Cozmo is not using the correct Cubes, you can easily help Cozmo to swap/change to a different Set or individual Cubes with these steps:
Identify which cubes Cozmo is synced to by going to Settings > Cube Status > Identify Cubes > tap a colour > all synced cubes will flash this colour until you tap "done"
Place the new set of Cubes very close to Cozmo.
In the Cozmo app, tapthe Settings icon in the upper right corner.
Scroll right until your reach the Cube Status.
Tap the "Auto Connect to Cubes" button.
Press the "Connect" button.
Theclosest set of Cubes will glow green and the briefly blue when successfully paired.

View ArticleLearn below how to give a Voice Command to Vector, how to ask him a question and how to communicate with him in other ways. Vector is currently monolingual and can only understand English.
Vector detects || Talking to Vector || Voice Commands || Vector Q&A: Ask Vector a question || Turning off voice detection
Vector detects
Vectors 4 microphone array uses beamforming to detect directional sound and background sound, though he does filter out some background sound
He may react differently depending on if he is awake or asleep, whether you use a trigger word to get his attention, or if he is startled
For best results, always put Vector down on a hard, flat surface (and not in his Space) before speaking to him
Talking to Vector
Voice Commands
Get Vectors attention to give him a Voice Command - telling him to do something:
Say Hey Vector! This is his Wake Word
Wait for his Back lights to turn blue and he will ding his earcon. This confirms you have his attention and he is ready to accept a Voice Command
Give Vector a command e.g. Come here!
this FAQ
Give Vector a Utilities Voice Command e.g. asking what time it is, asking what the weather is, setting a timer:
Utilities use local preferences from your device settings and information you input into the app during setup such as location and time zone
You still need to get Vectors attention with the Wake Word Hey Vector and wait for the ding and his Back Lights to turn blue
Say, Hey Vector, whats the weather? Vectors answer is based on the location in your app settings
Note: you can also ask Vector the weather in Vector Q&A (see below) but you will need to specify a location for him to look up
To learn more about what Commands you can give, take a look at Things to Try in the Vector companion app
If you encounter any issues using Voice Commands, see this FAQ for tips and troubleshooting
Vector Q&A: Ask Vector a question
Asking Vector a question uses a specific provider, available in American English only.
Get Vectors attention using one of the following two triggers:
Hey Vector, I have a question
Hey Vector, look up a question for me
Vector will show he understood by displaying the above icon
When he is ready to be asked, he will tell you, Ready
Ask Vector a question the more specific you are, the more likely he is to answer your question e.g. What will the weather be like in London on Saturday in degrees celsius
If the question has multiple answers, he may give the answer that is first alphabetically
If Vector didnt detect or understand your question you will have to start again with Hey Vector, I have a question
Take a look at Vector Q&A in Things to Try in the Vector companion app to learn more about it.
If you encounter any issues using Vector Q&A, see this FAQ for tips and troubleshooting.
Turning off voice detection
You can mute or unmute Vectors microphone array so that hecan'thear any voice commands by double-clicking his Back Button - he must be off his Charger.Vector will display a Mic Mute icon on his face for a brief moment
While Vectors mic is muted, his Back Lights are red. Vector will stay muted until you unmute him
To unmute Vectors mic, just double tap his Back button again while hes off his Charger You can tell hes unmuted, you will see a Mic Unmute icon on his face
For more information on what Vectors Back Lights mean, please see this FAQ

Sections:
What battery does the cube use?
How long does the battery last?
How do I change the battery?
How does Cozmo interact with the cube?
Indicators of cubes not working correctly
Troubleshooting
What battery does the cube use?
Alkaline N / E90 / LR1 1.5 Volt batteries
Do not use A23 batteries - these will damage the Cube
Do not use rechargeable batteries - these will damage the Cube
How long does the battery last?
Batteries come pre-installed in Cozmo's Cube
Once the pull-tab is removed, the battery will start to lose charge
The battery will last 20-40 hours of gameplay depending on how much Cozmo interacts with the Cube
To test if the battery is working, reset the cube:
unscrew the lid from the cube
wait for 10 seconds
screw the lid back on
the cube should flash red>green>blue if the battery is fine
In Settings > Cube Status, there will be a red Low Battery icon if the battery does not have enough power to sync / connect and needs to be replaced. Note: the low battery icon does not indicate battery voltage
How do I change the battery?
Remove the cubes screw using a cross head screwdriver and open the cubes cover
Remove and safely dispose of the old battery
Insert a new battery, positive end up
Replace the cover and screw the cover back down (not too tightly which can damage the cube)
How does Cozmo interact with his cubes?
Cozmo interacts with his cubes on two levels:
Visually: Cozmo can tell the difference between each cube by its markings. He can recognize the cube even without a battery
Wirelessly: Cozmo can connect wirelessly to each of his cubes if it is nearby. If a cube is too far away or the battery is low or dead, Cozmo may not be able to sync with it
Indicators of cubes not working correctly
One of all of the cubes LEDs do not light up but cube is detected in the Settings > Cube status menu
Cozmo is unable to detect a cube
Cozmo loses connection to a cube
Troubleshooting
If only one cube seems to be problematic, you may switch the batteries of a working cube to check if this is due to a dead battery
Reset the cube:
unscrew the lid from the cube
wait for 10 seconds
screw the lid back on
the cube should flash red>green>blue if the battery is fine
Move the cubes nearer to Cozmo
Check the cubes are synced in settings > cube status
when connected, you should see a green check
if Cozmo is unable to sync to a cube, it will say, "not connected"
tap "auto connect to cubes" to re-sync the cubes, especially after resetting or changing the battery
View ArticleThis article explains all you need to know about Sparks.
Why do I need Sparks?
Similar to a pet you can tempt Cozmo into playing a game or doing a trick by giving him some Spark treats. Sparks are earned in-game and cannot be purchased with real currency.
When do I need Sparks?
Cozmo loves to play. Any game that he suggests himself does not require any Sparks. However, if you want to play a game from the Play menu with him, you need to offer some Sparks as a little treat. The number of Sparks varies depending on whether you pick a specific game (= more Sparks) or allow for random game selection (= less Sparks). Cozmo sings and Cube guard are always free!
What if I spent all my Sparks?
You can always play with Cozmo, even when you have no Sparks left: simply leave Cozmo by himself in Freeplay and he will ask you to play with him (via his app).
You can also interact with Cozmo in Discover Modes such as Explorer Mode and Code Lab (where he can use his abilities), Cozmo Says and Meet Cozmo.
How do I get more Sparks?
If Cozmos Play Needs are fulfilled, you can earn 1 Bonus Box per day containing 100 Sparks and other rewards!
Or you can simply leave the app open on the main menu and let Cozmo help you restore your Sparks. Since he loves to play he will soon suggest a few free games upon completion of which you may get rewarded with more Sparks.
A word of caution: if you are sharing Cozmo, whoever connects to him on any given device can spend his Sparks
Important: Cozmo needs to be tuned up before he can play by himself or be sparked.

What do I need to Charge Vector?
Where should I place his charger?
How do I know Vector is charging?
How long does Vector's battery last?
How do I know when Vector needs charging?
If you are looking for information about Vectors Cube battery, please see this FAQ.
What do I need to Charge Vector?
A USB Power Source (adapter, USB port, power bank) with a minimum DC output of 5V/1A
Vectors charger (included in the box)
this FAQ
Where should I place his charger?
Make sure the charger is on a hard, flat surface that does not vibrate and is non-reflective and opaque (i.e. not a glass table)
The Charger should be near to Vector and there should be a clear path for him to dock
If Vector is in his Space, make sure his cube is not in there with him since, due to restricted space, it will obstruct his way to the charger
Make sure the charger is visible to Vector. His eyesight is not as good as ours and he can be blinded by direct light (natural from the sun through windows or artificial) or reflections. Likewise, poor lighting makes it hard for Vector recognise his charger
Just like people need shade or sun cream to protect them from the sun, Vector also needs sun protection. Do not place his charger in direct sunlight so Vector does not get too hot
How do I know Vector is charging?
Vectors 3 Back Lights will glow green and climb up his Back Button unless you turn him off manually by pressing and holding his Back Button 5 seconds
When Vector is fully charged, these lights will stop glowing and only the round green light will remain
Vector will be fully charged after approximately 30 minutes
If you see the below icon on his screen when Vector is on his charger, his battery is too low to operate. In this case, you will need to leave him slightly longer on his charger
How long does Vectors battery last?
Vector has 3 Power Modes.
If he is active, he will operate approx. 25 minutes before going back to his charger
If he is calm / sleeping, he will operate significantly longer before going back to his charger
In a calm state, Vector will have slowed reactions and only make quiet sounds and slow motions since sensors, WiFi, Cube and CPU are running at reduced power
Vector is designed to be on all the time but if you prefer turning him off, press and hold his Back Button for 5 seconds
Please note that Vectors battery is not user-serviceable but is covered by Ankis limited warranty.
How do I know when Vector needs charging?
When Vector has a low battery, his bottom Back Light will pulse red
Vector is fully autonomous and will return to his charger when his battery is low
When the battery is low, WiFi and Voice Commands are disabled so he can focus on finding his charger
You can also give him a Voice Command to go charge, Hey Vector [wait] Go home!
If you see this icon on his screen when Vector is off his charger, his battery is too low to operate. In this case, you will need to place him on his charger
If Vector is unable to find his charger, he will show a critical battery warning. See above tips on where to place his charger
If you encounter any issues with Vectors battery or him self-charging, please see .

View ArticleThe app skins the gamepad to match your chosen vehicle. Top lights communicate a lot of critical information.
Just before thestart of an event, the vehicles go on their parade lap, and while scanning the track, each vehicle's Top Light will respectively appear Blue, Red, Green, or Purple depending on the number ofvehicles about to participate. The vehicles will then line-up for their standing start with these same Top Lights colors.
Top Lights flash Yellow matching the countdown
Top Light reflects Vehicle Energy levels
Once the event is going, all of the vehicle's Top Lights areGreen, reflecting their VehicleEnergy level.
As your vehicle receives damage, and you use Weapons and Special Items, energy will drain from yourvehicle. The less vehicle energy you have, the more vulnerable you are to being disabled.
Below are the energy levels associated with each Top Light's colors:
Healthy
Green
=
100% - 67%
Caution
Yellow
=
66% - 34%
Danger
Red
=
33% - Empty
When you know your energy level, you can adjust your strategy.
Top Light flashes when a vehicleis receiving damage
When anopponent is attacking and damaging a vehicle, that vehicle's Top Light will flash in the pattern of that opponent's particular weapon. You now can clearly see when you're being attacked and what kind of weapon is involved.
Top Light shows the impact of Gravity Traps
When an opponent is springing a Gravity Trap on avehicle, the level of impact is reflected in the Top Light moving from Green, to Yellow, toRed, and then disabling thatvehicle. This helps you to know when you should be evading or taking action.
A steady Blue Top Light means the car is invulnerable
You'll notice this at the start of an every event and when a vehicle has recovered from being disabled. When that light is Blue, it does not make much sense to attach a vehicle because you can't do any damage.

4. Checking Anki Cloud Availability
Check if Ankis Cloud is available and accessible from your devices location:
Enter https://ota-cdn.anki.com/ok into a browser on the same WiFi network as Vector
If a file containing OK downloads, the Cloud is available and accessible from your devices WiFi network
Check that your network can access the Anki cloud services from the device you use with Vector:
Some DNS (Domain Name System) and parental control services may block certain services so we need to make sure your device can access:
accounts.api.anki.com
session-certs.token.global.anki-services.com
Depending on your device, please pick one of below options to check this:
iOS: use a free app like iNetTools - Ping,DNS,Port Scan > DNS
Android: use a free app like Whois & DNS Lookup - Domain/IP by entering each of these addresses and then clicking the DNS tab
If these DNS lookups do not work, consider configuring your router to use a Public DNS Service like:
Google 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
CloudFlare1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1

Vector now includes Alexa!
Alexa allows you to use your voice to hear the news, check weather, control your smart home, and more. All you have to do is ask Alexa.
Vector stays Vector
Enabling Alexa is completely optional, and Alexaisn'tenabled by default. At his core, Vector stays Vector.
Even when you enable Alexa, Vector maintains all of his abilities and his personality. Any time you say Hey Vector before giving Vector a voice command, Vector is always the one to carry it out.
Youll still say Hey Vector to have Vector do things like Take a Picture, Do a trick, or Come here. Alexawon'tmove Vector around, make him do a trick, or let him take a picture of you.
Vectorwon'tdo everything Alexa can do
Vector does not support the following:
Communicating with other people with features like Drop In, Calling, and Messaging
Playing songs and podcasts from streaming services like Amazon Prime Music, Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM
Reading books out loud through Kindle or Audible
Enabling Alexa
To enable Alexa on Vector, you will need an Amazon account and use the Vector Robot app:
Launch the Vector Robot app and connect to your Vector
From the Home screen, click Amazon Alexa under THINGS TO TRY
Click the SIGN IN WITH AMAZON button
At the Amazon Sign in, either
Click the Create a new Amazon account button if you do not already have one or
Enter your Amazon account credentials and click the Sign in button
Once you are logged in with your account, register Your Device (Vector) by typing in the 6-digit code displayed on Vectors face and clicking the Continue button
Change the Wake Word on your Alexa devices
Your Vector is now registered with Amazon Alexa.
When you have enabled an Alexa Skill and it sends a notification, Vectors Back Light will flash yellow until you clear all of your notifications. The yellow Alexa notifications override other lights. For more information on what Vectors Back Lights mean, please see this article.
If you do not see the "Amazon Alexa" button under "Things to Try", please make sure the Vector app and Robot Operating System are on the latest version.
Using Alexa
Once activated, use Alexa the same way you do today on any other Alexa enabled device: say Alexa, followed by a voice command. You can tell Alexa to control your lights, set a timer, check the weather, or most other things you normally use Alexa for.
How to Mute Vector (and Alexa)
You can now mute or unmute Vectors microphone array, so that hecan'thear any voice commands.
You can mute Vectors mic by double-clicking his Back button - he must be off his Charger.Vector will quickly display a Mic Mute icon on his face.
While Vectors mic is muted, his Back lights are red. Vector will stay muted until you unmute him.
To unmute Vectors mic, just double tap his Back button again while hes off his Charger. You can tell hes unmuted, you will see a Mic Unmute icon on his face.
For more information on what Vectors Back Lights mean, please see this article.
Configuring Vectors Back Button
You can configure Vectors Button via the Vector Robot app Settings. Selecting Alexa or Hey Vector determines what happens when you want to get Vectors attention by clicking his Back button one time.
Other Options
To configure Alexa (things like Location, Time Zone, Measurement Units, etc.), use Amazons Manage Your Content and Devices site or the Amazon Alexa app.

How to turn Vector off || How to use Recovery Mode || How to Erase User Data || How to restore Vector
For more information about Vector's security and privacy, please refer to this FAQ.
How to turn Vector off
Turn off Vector to stop him streaming data to the Cloud. Turning Vector off and on again also helps with minor intermittent issues you may experience such as seeing a status code.
Turn Vector off by pressing his Back Button (the LED strip) down hard until it clicks
Hold it for 5 seconds until Vector turns off
This is the same as Powercycling Vector.
How to use Recovery Mode
Use Recovery Mode to force Vector to boot up on factory firmware. Doing this will not delete any user data or software that had previously been installed via Over-The-Air (OTA) update.
This may help with certain issues such as Vector failing to boot up, meaning he is unable to charge (this is indicated by teal Back Lights), or potential software issues, sometimes indicated by a blank screen. If you get a status code between 200-219, recovery mode will also help.
Vector must on his charger and plugged into a power source (be sure to push him right to the back of the charger - you will see the LEDs flashing)
Press and hold Vectors Back Button for around 15 seconds in total until the rectangle furthest away from the circle LED lights up blueish white
He will reboot and show "anki.com/v" on his screen
Open the Vector app and reconnect to Vector
Select the newly-generated Vector #### code to pair the robot
How to Erase User Data
Use this option if you would like to permanently delete Personally Identifiable Information (PIIs) such as images and faces Vector has met from your robot. Any previously installed Vector software will also be deleted but the current software will remain on the robot. To also delete the current software, use Recovery Mode, above. Note erased data cannot be restored.
Place Vector on his charger and plug the charger in
[If Vector is booting up, wait for the V to finish]
Double click Vectors Back Button
Raise and lower Vectors lift
Turn his treads to move through selections (backwards to go up, forwards to go down)
Raise and lower the lift to select the Clear User Data menu
Confirm the selection and wait for Vector to reboot
Once Vector completes rebooting, data will have been wiped from the robot
How to restore Vector
Since Vector is Cloud-connected, any changes in the Vector app settings are sent from the App to the robot. Everything from the robot is sent to the Cloud (except photos, and volume and eye colour which you can change in the app settings). As such, you only need to log into your account to restore Vector. You need to do this after having Vector exchanged.
Note. You cannot restore anything, including people Vector has met, that has been permanently deleted by using Clear User Data.

Vector is unable to find his charger
If you have come home to find Vectors battery died before he found his charger, or you observe him struggle to find his charger, he may be not be able to see where it is, get to it or he may also have gotten stuck, half off a table edge. Please check the following:
Make sure the charger is on a hard, flat surface that does not vibrate and is non-reflective and opaque (i.e. not a glass table)
The Charger should be near to Vector and there should be a clear path for him to dock
If Vector is in his Space, make sure his cube is not in there with him since it will obstruct his way to the charger
Make sure the charger is visible to Vector. His eyesight is not as good as ours and he can be blinded by direct light (natural from sun through windows or artificial). Likewise, poor lighting makes it hard for Vector recognise his charger
If he still has issues, check his camera is working and he can recognize the home icon on his charger. You can test his camera by having him recognize his cube or a face he has already met
Check Vectors battery
To check Vectors battery is working as expected, follow these steps:
Turn Vector on by pressing his Back Button
Leave him off the charger until the battery dies
Turn Vector on again
You should see the charging icon on his screen
Vector should then shut down shortly afterwards
If he does not do this, check his battery in the Customer Care Info Screen. See steps below
Use the Customer Care Info Screen (CCIS):
Place Vector on his charger and plug the charger in
[If Vector is booting up, wait for the V to finish]
Double click Vectors Back Button
Raise and lower Vectors lift
Lower and raise Vectors head
Press his Back Button 3 times
BATT: on the charger, you should see levels at around 3.6V (3.4V-4.21V). Note that initially, you may see 0.2V
CHGR: on the charger, you should see levels around 4.9V with slight fluctuations. If the charger level does not change, contact Customer Care
View ArticleThis article explains how to charge Cozmo. For information on Cozmo's Playtime and Batteries, please refer to this article.
USB Power Source Minimum Requirements:
To charge Cozmo, Anki recommends a USB Power Adapter or a powered USB outlet with a minimum DC Output = 5V/2A if Cozmo does not have a backpack button or 5V/1A if Cozmo does have a backpack button.
Charge times:
When using a powered USB source that meets these recommendations, typical charge time is approximately 30 minutes until fully charged. Chargedurations will vary based upon the USB power sourcethat you use. USB power sources that don't meet the minimum requirements may not be able to completely charge Cozmo or charge Cozmo at all.
Charging Cozmo:
make sure Cozmo is sitting right back in his charging platform
make sure the USB is plugged fully into the power source
charge Cozmo for 30 minutes
when charging, Cozmo's backpack lights should flash green in a 1,2,3 sequence
when fully charged, Cozmo's backpack light should be solid green
if you are seeing a RED light on Cozmo's backpack, check if Cozmo needs to be tuned up
Once Cozmo is fully charged (solid Green LED), remove him from his charging platform. Do not leave him in the platform overnight.

Error messages you may see
Your card was declined

An error occurred while processing your order
What is 3D Secure?
If the issuing bank of your credit or debit card requires 3D Secure authentication for online purchases, Anki.com will support 3D Secure authentication during your checkout.
3D Secure is a secure protocol for safe online purchases. It confirms your identity with the card issuer and validates that you are the true cardholder, protecting you against unauthorized use of your card.
You will need to register and activate this feature during the payment process or in advance on your card issuers website.
Once you have activated 3D Secure, when placing your order, a pop-up will appear redirecting you to your card issuers website and asking you for some digits of your PIN or characters of your password. If the card issuer determines your information is correct, you'll then be referred back to your checkout with Anki.com.
What is AVS Verification?
If you are placing an order on the US Store on Anki.com, your card will be required to support AVS verification.
AVS verification is a protocol for safe online purchases. It helps confirm your billing address with the card issuer.
If your card issuing bank does not support AVS verification, your card will need to be 3DS supported and your bank must require 3DS authentication for your order to go through on Anki.com.
Please verify the following criteria before placing your order:
Check you are using a payment method Anki.com supports
Check your card expiration date
Check your credit limit has not been exceeded
Check your billing address matches that of the registered card
The email address provided in your order is correct and capable of receiving email
Check Anki.com supports shipments to your shipping address. For more information, see our Shipping Information
Further troubleshooting
If you are unable to place your order and have checked the above criteria, you may do the following:
Try again later
Use a different card
Use a different browser
We are aware of a current issue where if using Internet Explorer 11, users will see a blank page when going to checkout
Try on a different device
If after this you still experience issues, please contact your card issuing bank to find out why the transaction has been declined. Anki will only decline the transaction if we're unable to get verification from the issuing bank (and we are unable to provide any details or reasons for this) or because of any of the above criteria not being met.

Notes
Our app is not optimized for all of the features and functionality available in newer devices. For example, the OVERDRIVE apps do not take advantage of the higher display resolutions or aspect ratios on devices like the iPhone X and Google Pixel 3 XL.
^ These devices are not Fully Compatible because they can only join an Anki OVERDRIVE game hosted by another compatible device. They cannot be a host that allows other devices to join a game.
* These manufacturers have devices with the same or similar names to the devices we test and publish here, but they are not compatible with Anki products. For example, while we successfully test the Samsung Galaxy S5 with the OVERDRIVE apps, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo or Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini are not tested and may not work.
We also have specifically disabled some devices because they have known issues with the OVERDRIVE apps or are not standard. For example, the OVERDRIVE apps do not support any Tablet or Device that uses an x86, x86-64, intel, AMD, or Atom based Processor. Please read for more information.

Anki is creating a world where robots have relationships with people. As such, Vector cannot yet meet other Vectors, Cozmo or Pets
If you sometimes wear glasses or forget to shave, you can re-enroll your face with Vector. Open the app, go to Utilities > Face Recognition and let him scan you up to 10 times
In good and poor lighting
With and without glasses
With a beard or clean-shaven
With or without a hat
If Vector struggles to recognize you, test is he recognizes his charger and cube
Turning the camera off
When Vector is on, his camera is always on so he can see and react to the world around him
To turn it off, you need to turn off Vector by pressing and holding his Back Button for 5 seconds

For example, while we successfully test the Samsung Galaxy S5 with the Vector Robot companion app, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo or Samsung Galaxy 5 Mini are not tested and may not work.
We also have specifically disabled some devices because they have known issues with the Vector Robot companion app or are not standard. For example, the Vector Robot companion app does not support any Tablet or Device that uses an x86, x86-64, intel, AMD, or Atom based Processor. Please read here for more information.
If Vector is autonomous, why do I need to use a device with Vector? Why do I need the Vector Robot companion app?
While Vector is an autonomous robot (you can interact with him using your voice and he will automatically update himself when a software update is available), the Vector Robot companion app is required to:
Successfully set up Vector
Associating your Vector with your Anki Account
Configuring Vector to join WiFi networks and setting basic settings
Help you learn how to interact with Vector
Manage Face Recognition and Photos
View ArticleOn November 17, 2017, we officially ended support of Anki DRIVE.
While we realize End-of-Life for Anki DRIVE can be unwelcome news, we do want to be clear on how this will impact you.
Anki will no longer:
Maintain or evolve the Anki DRIVE app or provide any support for device compatibility.
Offer any active technical support for the Anki DRIVE app or any related hardware.
Stock replacement/piece part items such as Cars, Tracks, Tires for sale or otherwise.
View ArticleLearn in this FAQ how to set Vector up, how Vector connects to the internet, and where to find troubleshooting steps if you encounter any connection issues.
Quick overview of setup || Getting Started || Requirements for setting up Vector || Setting up Vector
Quick overview of setup
The Vector app finds and connects to Vector via a signal that he emits (Vector will not be listed in your smart device's WiFi or Bluetooth settings)
The app then allows Vector to scan for available home WiFi networks
Once Vector has connected to the preferred WiFi network, he connects to the internet to access Anki's servers
Once connected successfully, Vector will download the latest firmware version from Anki's server
Vector will then reboot and connect to your device via WiFi to complete the setup

Create a password
Depending on your region, select if you want to allow Anki allow anonymized usage data collection to improve services
Select if you would like to be signed up to the newsletter
Check your inbox for the activation email and click Activate Account (check your Spam folder if youcan'tsee it or resend the email from the Vector app. Note if you resend the activation email, you need to click the link from the newestemail to avoid getting sent to a 404)
Make sure your devices Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled
The app will now search for Vector to connect to him wirelessly
When the App finds Vector, tap on connect
press Vectors Back Button twice (press hard on top of the LED strip - you will hear it click, see video below) and enter the 6-digit pin displayed on his screen into the app
Once the Vector app has connected wirelessly to the robot, he will allow you to select and connect to your home WiFi access point
If you want to connect Vector to a hidden WiFi network, tap, Dont see your WiFi network? and use the Enter the SSID for your WiFi Network dialog
Once WiFi connection has been established, Vector will ask permission to download the latest version of his Operating System (OS)
If the update is successful, the robot will reboot and the app will reconnect - Vector will display a Flashing V in a Phone icon
Now set the robots Preferences for its Location (manually type it into the field), time zone, temperature and distance units (metric, imperial, or a mix), and finally clock display - these are important for Vector to operate correctly
Tap Start to complete setup and you will be guided to the in-app tutorial - we suggest you explore the app to get familiar with your new companion!

View ArticleIn addition to the expected design-related differences, this FAQ includes some other game-related differences to make sure you will get the most out of your OVERDRIVE Supertrucks!
Design-related differences
Supertrucks don't jump - they destroy (use the Anki OVERDRIVE Launch Kit for Supercars, not Supertrucks)
Supertrucks don't like low underpasses - elevate your risers with other objects (e.g. books) so they don't get stuck
Supertrucks don't like steep hills so make sure your circuit is truck-friendly
Supertrucks can't turn around on their own (e.g. after getting delocalised or being disabled)
Supertrucks occasionally run over the orange track connectorswith their trailer
Game-related differences
Supertrucks have pre-defined weapons that can't be replaced (what you see is what you get)
SupertrucksusePower Pointsto upgrade their pre-existing weapons
Supertrucks have Rage mode
Similar to the each individual Supercar you need to strategically decide when to use a Supertruck to utilize their strengths. Their superior energy levels and armor make them a great pick for Battle while you may prefer to select one of the faster Supercars in Race.
View ArticleThis is a quick explanation of the Fire Assist settingand how it works.
Fire Assisthelps players who are unfamiliar with how different weapon types utilizedifferent firing mechanisms.
With the Fire Assist setting enabled,
'tap to fire' weapons will auto-fire with 2 seconds between shots
'release to fire' weapons will auto-release at max power when holding the fire button
Fire Assist does not impact'Deployed' or 'Machine Gun' weapons and it is on by default.

Tips
Make sure you have selected US, GB or AU English based on your accent, not your location
Familiarise yourself with the Vector companion app where you can find a list of Voice Commands and tips on how to construct them
Make sure Vector is fully charged - he will not accept any Voice Commands when he is low on battery and on his way back to the charger
Press Vectors Back Button once to bypass using the Wake Word (Hey Vector) if Vector is not reacting to this. Continue by giving a Voice Command
Remember to wait for the earcon ding and the blue Back Light before giving a Voice Command
Vector will let you know if he cannot recognise or perform the command you give him. In this instance, try the following troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Steps
Place Vector on a hard, flat surface that is not his Space he may not perform all Voice Commands if he is being held
Similar to a person, Vector finds it more difficult to understand when there is background noise
Speak clearly, loudly and be close (but not too close) to Vector when you speak to him
If Vector is moving or making noise, wait for him to stop before speaking to him. You can also pet him so he focuses and stops moving
Speak at a normal speed, not any slower than you usually would. This would be like with speaking louder to someone who does not understand your language it does not help them understand
Enunciate just like Customer Care reps over the phone, Vector really needs to hear those Ps&Bs, your Fs&Ss, your Ts&Ds, your M&Ns
Remember that you are not having a conversation Vector will not understand a Voice Command if it is mixed into a sentence e.g. Come here! is a Voice Command while Oh Vector, youre so cute, come here, I want to pet you is not
Make sure you only ask him one thing at a time. He will not understand compound commands:
First: Hey Vector [wait] Come here!
Then: Hey Vector [wait] Give me a fist bump!
Not: Hey Vector [wait] Come here and give me a fist bump!
Using the Customer Care Info Screen (CCIS) to test the microphones
Place Vector on his charger and plug the charger in
[If Vector is booting up, wait for the V to finish]
Double click Vectors Back Button
Raise and lower Vectors lift
Lower and raise Vectors head
Press his Back Button 6 times
If the MICS indicate a positive value, the microphones are in working order. If MICS indicates a value of 0, please contact Customer Care for further help
If only 1 type of speech recognition (e.g. Voice Command orVector Q&A) is not working as expected, please contact Customer Care. This may be due to an issue with an Anki Cloud Service.
If Vectors MICS are working fine and he reacts to bypassing Hey Vector with his Back Button press but you still struggle to use Voice Commands or Ask Vector, check your WiFi connection intermittent or poor WiFi quality may affect how well Vector can recognise speech and process reactions.
If your WiFi connection is also fine, please continue reading.
Vector supports English
While the richness and diversity of language is a wonderful thing, unfortunately neither Vector nor any other devices that use speech recognition can cover the full spectrum of different English dialects and accents.
If you have followed the above, you have ruled out a technical defect, as well as other potential factors that can affect the performance of Vectors Speech Recognition. As such, it seems that your little robot generally struggles with your particular intonation, dialect, accent and/or regionalisms.
We trust that over time, the voice recognition success rate will be greatly improved.
View ArticleThis FAQ explains how to turn off your Supercar or Supertruck. Please note that powercycling or resetting the vehicle is not possible.
Where is the Power Button?
You will find the grey power button on the underneath of each Supercar and Supertruck
What does the Power button do?
Pressing the power button once turns the vehicle off or on
Placing the vehicle on the included charging platform also turns it on
Pressing the power button 5 times in rapid succession puts the vehicle in Drone Mode. Placing the vehicle on the track in Drone Mode can help test vehicle performance
