Dr. Qi Lu, Ph.D. has been the Chief Operating Officer and Group President of Baidu, Inc. since January 16, 2017. Dr. Lu serves as a Senior Advisor/Consultant at Northern Light Venture Capital. He serves as General Manager of Citic Guoan Mengguli Power Science & Technology Co. Ltd. He possesses a wealth of leadership and management experience and is a leading authority in the area of artificial intelligence. He served as Executive Vice President of Applications and Service Group at Microsoft Corporation since 2013 until October 7, 2016. He served as the President of Online Services Division at Microsoft Corporation since January 05, 2009 and led its search and online advertising efforts. He oversaw the OSD Research & Development team at Microsoft. He served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering for Search and Search Marketing at Yahoo! Inc. (Now known as Altaba Inc.) since April 2006, where he spent as a Senior Executive for 10 years. Dr. Lu led development efforts around Yahoo!'s Web search and monetization platforms. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Engineering at Yahoo!, responsible for the technology development of its search and marketplace business unit including its search, e-commerce and local listings of businesses and products. Dr. Lu joined Yahoo! in 1998 and later became Senior Vice President in charge of search and advertising technologies and served as its Executive Vice President of Search and Advertising Technology Group since 2007 and Executive Vice President of Engineering Search and Search Marketing. He served as a Research Staff Member at IBM Almaden Research Center. He has been Vice Chairman and Director at Baidu, Inc since February 26, 2017. Dr. Lu serves as a Vice-Chairman of CITIC Guoan Group. Before that, Dr. Lu worked at Carnegie Mellon University as a Research Associate. He serves as a Director at Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association. He serves as a Director at CITIC Guoan Group. Dr. Lu is a Faculty Member at Fudan University in China. He holds over 40 US patents and has authored many papers in his field. Dr. Lu earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He received a B.S. and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Fudan University.
