Banfield Pet Hospital Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Student loan support and medical insurance(including mental health)

Review from Veterinarian Dept

I am compensated well at Banfield.

Generous PTO policy supports associates

Review from Veterinarian Dept

Care for our pets and our health

Mental health and wellbeing services that allow me to be at my best at home and in my career

I love the free wellness plans for my pets

Affordable, flexible and can choose packages

Review from General Practice Dept

My pay and annual variable pay

I appreciate all of the additional discounts we receive- Royal Canin pet food discount, 3 free OWP, plus all of the mars discounts.

the best part is the variable pay plan

Insurance benefits, retirement match, FSA/HSA and AVP

that i have one honestly didn't have one at previous job

Review from General Practice Dept

HSA use to be, now free OWP for the year

I think the best part of our compensation is the banfield bucks to buy gear from the store. However, it does take some time to accumulate enough to buy gear and the downfall is they do expire so I would love to have them not expire going forward.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

bonuses. I previously worked in the Banfield hospitals where bonuses were not possible.

The base salary and bonus

I feel that my compensation package demonstrates that I am valued as an associate.

Generous PTO, competitve salary, student loan debt contributions!

Not only great monetarily but other benefits such as paid parental leave and health and wellbeing benefits

Student loan contribution and insurance

Review from Veterinarian Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

There are new employees that get better pay than I get although I have been with the company for over 10 years, there should be a retaining bonus for long time employees as well

Review from Veterinarian Dept

Banfield tends to underpay relative to the private sector, leading to poor retention.

Review from Veterinarian Dept

With other companies we are paid under for the work we do.

I still work as a contract for Banfield and it means there are little opportunities to negotiate for better compensation.

First: free wellness plans only for dogs and cats, and those without get nothing in recompense, Second, stop using us as only numbers! Also why did the HSA go away in favor of "better health plan" when it's not really better is it? Also, why is training not just available for always, like refreshers

Review from Vet Technician Dept

I would feel better if we got paid for speaking spanish. we go the extra mile and help others, when we should be paid for being bilingual.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

Mars has been known for paying above national average, however I don't feel that translates to the MVH businesses.

As a line manager I am aware of some of the compensation increases that others are being offered for retention. It is frustrating for those of us who choose to stay not to get rewarded monetarily without threatening to leave in order to receive it.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

If we received any incentive for working through the pandemic aside from merchandise to the banfield store. My pay was higher then new people. Received additional PTO for extra holdiday closures this year 2021 not 2022

Review from General Practice Dept

I have been in this industry for 25 years, 9 of those with Banfield. I am not being paid for my experience and expertise. I am about 7 dollars short of average pay for my position and experience.

Review from General Practice Dept

I feel as someone who has been with this company almost 20 years even though I am not a LVT that gets placed negatively on me and I am not compensated for what I do. I think in general the Veterinary field very much under pays when VA's are paid after what is expected of us.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

I feel under valued because I have worked for this company for 14 years and there are people coming in here that only make $1 less than me. I feel like seniority and work ethic should count for better compensation

Review from Vet Technician Dept

The company took away my HSA benefits. Gave me days off which I appreciate but no pay. PTO was used for not coming to work when sick during a COVID year so many of us do not have PTO to cover the additional days. Also the cost of living has risen astronomically in our area and I can barely afford

Review from General Practice Dept

We are not compensated nearly enough for what we do in both financial and benefits. We should receive larger raises that show that we are valued employees. In addition, more should be done for employees than giving us $50 to celebrate team members. We need to be invested in and this isn't happening.

Review from General Practice Dept

a better income to debt ratio. I can't pay my student loans off at all with what I make as a veterinarian.

Review from Veterinarian Dept

I believe my compensation is fine at the moment. Once I decide to move into a CVT position I would expect more money just to help pay for my schooling costs.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

It's nothing against Banfield, but the veterinary field as a whole. I'm making $16 an hour while people starting out at Chik-Fil-A are making $17

The veterinary field is paid close to upper management retail and fast food places. However here we are exposed to diseases, radiation, and animal inflicted wounds. To be a McDonald's manager would be much safer and easier.

Review from Vet Technician Dept

I feel that my group has had to push to have our job description re-evaluated as we have been given more work with new responsibilities without the added compensation. My LM is trying to get this done and I appreciate it very much.

Pay us appropriately for the experience we bring to the table as individuals.
