Ashok V. Vaswani — Chief Executive Officer of Barclays UK at Barclays Investment Bank

Mr. Ashok V. Vaswani has been the Chief Executive Officer of Personal and Corporate Banking at Barclays PLC and Barclays Bank PLC since 2012. Mr. Vaswani served as Chief Executive of Retail and Business Banking at Barclays PLC. He served as the Chief Executive of Retail and Business Banking at Barclays Bank PLC since 2012. He served as the Chief Executive of Barclaycard Consumer Europe. He was a Partner of Brysam Global Partners. He served as the Chief Executive of Barclays Africa at Barclays Plc from October 2010 to September 2011. Mr. Vaswani joined Barclays in 2010. Mr. Vaswani served as the Head of strategy for the global consumer group of Citibank and Business Development Head for the global consumer group of Citibank at CitiCorp. since March 7, 2007. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Asia-Pacific consumer businesses at Citibank from May 2004 to March 7, 2007. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Banking Business of Asia Pacific and China Region and Chief Administrator Officer for Citi Cards in the United States at Citigroup Inc. from 1987 to 2007. He had been with Citigroup for more than 18 years. He has focused his career in the Global Consumer Bank, where he has demonstrated a passion for building businesses. After he joined Citi in 1987, as a Financial Controller in Bombay, India, he moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to assume a series of leadership positions in the Global Consumer Bank, including the role of Chief Financial Officer for the Gulf. He went on to launch the first credit card in the UAE market. In 1995, he moved to Istanbul, Turkey where he launched the credit card business and served as its Country Business Manager. During that period, he was also responsible for the credit card business in CEEMEA (Central Europe, Middle East and Africa). Later, Mr. Vaswani served as a Division Executive of Consumer Bank, for Turkey, Middle East and Africa. Then, he was moved to Brussels and served as Marketing Director for the newly created CEEMEA region covering both Corporate and Consumer Banking. Since July 2001, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for the US Cards Business. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Barclays Africa Group Limited (Absa Group Limited) from March 1, 2013 to June 30, 2017. He served as a Director of Telenor ASA from May 2016 to May 10, 2017. He served as Non-Executive Director of Absa Bank Limited from March 1, 2013 to May 2, 2013. He has degrees from both the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of India and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Mr. Vaswani graduated from Bombay University, Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics.
