Richard Williams — Chief Operating Officer at Barrick Gold Corporation

Mr. Richard J. Williams, MBE, MC has been the Chief Operating Officer at Barrick Gold Corporation since August 17, 2015 and served as Chief of Staff from October 2014 to August 21, 2015. Mr. Williams serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Chakata Ltd. served as International Advisor at Olive Group Capital Ltd., (alternate name Olive Group FZ-LLC) until March 10, 2016. He spent 20 years in the British Army, latterly as the Commanding Officer of 22 SAS Regiment, during which time he saw service across the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. He had a distinguished military career during which he Commanded 22 Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment from 2005 to 2008. During his career Mr. Williams served with the Special Forces, the 7th Armoured Brigade, the Parachute Infantry and on the Directing Staff of the Joint Services Command and Staff College. He joined Gem Diamonds in February 2008. Mr. Williams served as a Non-Executive Director of Gem Diamonds Limited from February 3, 2008 to June 2, 2015. He was awarded a Joint Commander's Commendation for service in Bosnia in 1995 and a Queen' s Commendation for Valuable Service in South America in 1996. He was made an MBE for service in Kosovo in 2000 and was awarded the Military Cross for service in Afghanistan in 2001. Mr. Williams holds a BSc in Economics from University College London, an MBA from Cranfield University and an MA in International Security from King's College London.
