S. Anderson Hughes — President of Central Virginia Region at BB&T Corporation

Mr. S. Anderson Hughes, also known as Andy serves as Regional President of Central Virginia at BB&T Corporation. Mr. Hughes has more than 30 years of banking experience. He joined BB&T as a regional president in 2003, through the First Virginia Banks Inc. merger. While at First Virginia, he held various positions in retail banking, commercial banking and general management. In 1995, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of First Virginia Bank-Colonial. He served as President, Richmond Group of Robert Morris Associates. He served as Chairman of the Foundation Board of John Tyler Community College. He serves as Director of Junior Achievement of Central Virginia, Inc.; The Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross and The Virginia Health Care Foundation. He served as Director of First Virginia Bank-Colonial. He served as Director of the Foundation Board of John Tyler Community College. He served as Director, Virginias-Carolinas chapter of Robert Morris Associates; He served as Director of Management Services, Inc., a subsidiary of the Virginia Bankers Association; member of the vestry, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Richmond, Va. He holds a BS, from University of Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management, Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
