Executive Bio

Mr. Clay Johnson has been Enterprise Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President of Walmart Inc. (formerly known as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.) since January 2017 and has responsibility for its global business services including information security, back-office technology and shared services. Mr. Johnson served as the Chief Information Officer of GE Power & Water since March 1, 2016 until January 2017. Mr. Johnson served as Vice President of General Electric Company since March 1, 2016. He is responsible for leading all IT initiatives and strategies for the business, as well as working closely with the digital and software & analytics teams to align efforts. He served as Chief Information Officer of GE Digital from July 2014 to January 2017. He served as Senior Director, Information Technology of Boeing from December 2008 to July 2011. He Senior Software Engineer / Architect of Nortel Networks from May 2000 to 2003. Before joining GE in July 2014, he served as Vice President of Information Technology for The Boeing Company. He joined Boeing in 2008 and served in several leadership roles, including Director of IT manufacturing and quality systems; Director of information security, where he was responsible for application security, supply chain security and access services; and Director of finance and human resources information systems, where he oversaw the development, maintenance and availability of all finance and HR information systems across Boeing. He was also the executive sponsor of GE's Veterans Network. During this time, he also served as executive leader for Boeing's accelerated leadership program. Prior to joining Boeing, he was a Director of Information Technology at Dell Corp from September 2004 to December 2008. where he led a global team that was responsible for the company's manufacturing IT systems. Prior to that, he worked as a software developer/ Engineer at FedEx from May 1998 to May 2000, where he implemented various software systems, including a company-wide logistical routing system that was deployed to facilities in North America. He served in the United States Coast Guard from August 1990 to December 1994, where he held numerous leadership positions. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in computer science engineering in 1998 and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas in 2005.
