Dr. Xiaodong Wang, Ph.d., Co-founde BeiGene, Ltd. in 2010 and has been its Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board since 2011. Dr. Wang co-founded the Joyant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in November 2004. He has been a Director of BeiGene, Ltd. since February 08, 2016. Dr. Wang serves as an investigator at HHMI and also holds the title of George L. MacGregor Distinguished Chair Professor in Biomedical Science at UT-Southwestern. He started his independent research career at Emory University. Dr. Wang returned to UT-Southwestern in 1996, was elected to Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in 1997 and became a full professor in 2000. His research centers on the molecular mechanism of programmed cell death, or apoptosis, in human cells. Dr. Wang was elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, USA, in 2004. For his work, he has been honored with the Molecular Biology Award from the National Academy of Sciences, USA; Norman Hackerman Award from the Welch Foundation; Paul Marks Prize from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; and Eli Lilly Award from American Chemical Society. Dr. Wang graduated from Beijing Normal University in 1984 and came to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1985.
