BKW AG is a leading supplier of energy and related services in Switzerland. It provides a comprehensive range of products and services to residential and business customers. The company's production portfolio incorporates hydroelectric and nuclear power plants, gas-fired power plants and renewable energy facilities. The company operates three reportable business areas, namely The Energy business area which builds, operates and maintains BKW's pool of power plants in Switzerland and abroad. The Grid business area which builds, operates and maintains BKW's distribution grid. And the Services business area which provides energy services in the fields of building technologies, infrastructure engineering, grids, wind and solar plants, and energy efficiency.
BKW was founded in 1898 and its current CEO is Suzanne Thoma. Since its inception 128 years ago, BKW has grown to 6000 employees.
