David Jakob Blumer — Global Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors & Senior MD at BlackRock

Mr. David Jakob Blumer has been Global Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors since September 2017 and Senior Managing Director since April 8, 2013 at BlackRock, Inc. Prior to taking on his current responsibilities in September 2017, Mr. Blumer served as Head of Europe, Middle East, and Africa since 2013, and Chairman of Europe, Middle East, and Africa since April 8, 2013 at the firm. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2013, he served as the Chief Investment Officer at Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. Prior to that, Mr. Blumer was the Head of Asset Management and Chief Investment Officer at Swiss Re Germany AG since May 1, 2008. He was also the Group Chief Investment Officer at Swiss Re Ltd. from May 2008 to November 2012. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Executive Board at Credit Suisse Asset Management, LLC and Chief Executive Officer at Credit Suisse (Germany). Mr. Blumer was the Head of Trading and Sales at Credit Suisse Group AG, Member of Executive Board since April 2, 2008 and Member of Executive Board for Banking Business. He was responsible for trading and sales within Credit Suisse and ran the special services group at the structured investment product desk. Mr. Blumer was the Head of Product Management, Trading, and Sales at Credit Suisse Financial Services since 2003 and Member of the Executive Board at Credit Suisse Division since 2003. He was the Managing Director of Credit Suisse Private Banking at Eurissimo Ltd. He was also the Chief Executive of Asset Management Division at Credit Suisse Group from June 2005 to April 2008 and Member of the Executive Board for Banking Business since January 1, 2006. Mr. Blumer spent 15 years at Credit Suisse and held various positions in private banking and asset management. He is a Director of BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited and an Executive Director of BlackRock Advisors (UK) Limited. Previously, Mr. Blumer was the Chairman of Swiss Re's Admin Re Division. He was a Director of SIX Group Ltd, RobecoSAM AG, Technology AG, Credit Suisse Private Banking and Technissimo Ltd., and Aston Corporate Managers Ltd. Mr. Blumer was a Director of the SIX Swiss Exchange since 2005 and served on the Board of RobecoSAM and Brevan Howard. He is a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum since 2005. Mr. Blumer has earned a Master's degree in Economics and also a B.A. in Economics in 1995 from the University of Zurich.
