Mark D. Wiseman — Senior MD, Global Head of Active Equities and Chairman of BlackRock Alternative Investors at BlackRock

Mr. Mark D. Wiseman is a Senior Managing Director at BlackRock, Inc since September 2016 and its Global Head of Active Equities. Mr. Wiseman is responsible for the firm's global active equity business and will be in charge of equity-based investment strategies. Previously, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board from July 2012 to June 13, 2016. Mr. Wiseman was responsible for leading the investment and non-investment activities. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice-President of Investments at the firm and was responsible for managing all of investment activities of the firm's public market investments, private investments and real estate investments. Mr. Wiseman joined the firm in June 2005 as the Senior Vice President of Private Investments. Previously, he was a Vice President at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, where he was responsible for the private equity fund and co-investment program. Previously, Mr. Wiseman was also employed at Teachers' Private Capital as Vice President of Funds and Investments. He joined the firm in 2002 to direct the development of the fund and co-investment program. Prior to that, Mr. Wiseman was a Vice President at Harrowston Inc. Previously, he also spent several years as a Corporate Lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell. Mr. Wiseman was also a Law Clerk to Madam Justice Beverley McLachlin at the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a Board Member of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance and serves on the Board of several not-for-profit organizations, including the Capital Markets Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital, Right to Play International and Sinai Health System. Mr. Wiseman is the United Way Toronto Campaign Chair for 2015. Previously, he was a Director of Puget Energy Inc from October 16, 2009 to November 06, 2012. Mr. Wiseman was Director of Puget Sound Energy Inc. from October 26, 2009 to November 06, 2012. He was the Chairman of Youth Without Shelter. Mr. Wiseman was also the Chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association from 2004 to 2007. He was the 2015 Campaign Chair for the United Way of Toronto and York Region and was appointed to the Canadian Finance Minister's Economic Growth Council. In 2006, Mr. Wiseman was named to Canada's Top 40 Under 40. He is a certified member of the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors. Mr. Wiseman holds an M.B.A. and a Law degree from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Law from Yale University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and a B.A. from Queen's University.
