Mr. Robert William Fairbairn, also known as Rob, has been Senior Managing Director at BlackRock, Inc. since April 11, 2017. He served as the Chief Operating Officer at BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited. Prior to this, he was employed at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as a Senior Vice President and Head of the EMEA Pacific Region, responsible for all of the firm's non-United States businesses. Mr. Fairbairn was also employed at Mercury Asset Management since 1993, becoming the Head of the EMEA Sales Division in 1999 and Chief Operating Officer of the EMEA Pacific region in 2001. Previously, from 1990 to 1993, he was employed at Lazard Investors' as a part of the business development team. Prior to this, Mr. Fairbairn spent five years at GT Management as an Investment Manager. He earned B.A. in History, Economics and Russian Studies from Durham University in 1987.
