How employees describe working at Build.com
Terrific service, customer service and products.
I'm writing to praise one of your customer service reps- Kaitlyn Aviles. She is the most wonderful, helpful & attentive sales person I have ever worked with. Kaitlyn goes well above & beyond to help us pull together everyting needed for the total renovation of our apartment. Kaitlyn is THE BEST!!
Stop your bait and switch! Horrible customer service - the guy pretended not to hear me and hung up. I placed an order, they canceled it unilaterally, and then raised the prices.
Product diversity and customer service.
great place to work I love it

IDX: 0 TOT: 5
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at Build.com?
Interviewing was pretty straightforward. There was a screening call, technical screening call, and a half-day of in-person interviewing that included: a 1hr technical interview (no whiteboarding), 1hr interview with management and a tour of the office.
What's the vibe like in the Engineering dept at Build.com? How many hours are you working?
The vibe is pretty fun across the company. There are frequent events and free food. I think this is good overall but it does affect our pace. 40 hours per week is typical
What's the Engineering team like at Build.com?
As always, it varies by team. My team does a very good job of writing solid code and paying down technical debt. I've heard other teams have more of a struggle with getting things done fast vs. getting things done right. The other developers that I've worked with have all been technically competent
How's the leadership on the Engineering team at Build.com?
Overall, the leadership seems competent but I have had pretty much zero interaction with them since my hiring interview. I'm one of the few remote workers so it may be better if you're in the office. My team lead is pretty good though; he handles all of my managerial needs
What's the office layout like at Build.com?
Open plan and desks, no cubicles, departments are grouped in pods. Open door policy for Execs.
