Mr. Friedrich von Gottberg, also known as Fred, has been an Interim Chief Technology Officer of Cabot Corporation since June 6, 2017. Mr. von Gottberg serves as Senior Vice President at Cabot Corporation and has been its President of The Purification Solutions Segment Since January 2013, Mr. von Gottberg has been responsible for the Purification Solutions segment, which is the world's largest producer of activated carbon used in purification of air, water, food and chemicals. He served as President of Advanced Technologies Segment-New Business Group, Vice President and General Manager of New Business Segment at Cabot Corporation. He served as Vice President of Research & Development (R&D) and Director of Research & Development (R&D) of Cabot Corp. since March 23, 2004. He has been with Cabot since August 1997 in the Research & Development organization. Since that time, he has risen through the ranks to hold several key positions including R & D Program Manager for Cabot's Inkjet Colorants business, General Manager of the Inkjet Colorants business and Business Finance Director for Cabot's Fumed Metal Oxides (FMO) business. Mr. von Gottberg holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and an MSCEP and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
