Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Celonis

Sustainability at Celonis in general is one of our core values, namely Earth Is Our Future, and therefore a task for every employee.
The newly appointed Director of Sustainability (July 2020) develops, advocates, aggregates, and measures the Celonis integrated sustainability strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, but working horizontally in the organization, the Director of Sustainability drives Celonis responses to the most pressing societal priorities.

We at Celonis define sustainability as meeting our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
We therefore take ecology into account and complement it with social action and economic added value for all stakeholders, following the integrated concept of ESG (Environment – Social – Governance). We acknowledge our direct and indirect impact and treat sustainability as a long-term task aligned with our core strategy and including annual reporting.

Direct Impact:
- Green Office and New Work: Innovating office concepts and turning new office hubs (e.g. New York, Madrid) into sustainable workspaces (Waste management, office food programme, energy supply, gamification to incentivize sustainable behavior etc.)
- Procurement: Updating the policy for purchasing and vendor management towards sustainability
- IT Recycling: Evaluating current device policy and usage processes and optimizing towards waste reduction (recycling or donation of devices, tips to prolong duration of usage)
- Branding: Creating a policy for sustainable give-aways and events (e.g. sustainable Christmas presents for employees)
- Diversity: Unconscious Bias Training and educational resources for all employees
- Communities at work: Facilitating employee communities focused on diversity and resilience (e.g. Women@Celonis, Pride@Celonis)

Indirect Impact:
- Offering sustainable use cases for our product (Execution Management System) as Co-Innovation projects to customers and our ecosystem: Reducing Carbon Footprint of Shipments, Improving Supplier Sustainability, Reducing Waste in Production and Logistics and more
- Offering our product for free for NGOs and social corporations
- Democratizing access to technology and education through our Academy, Academic Alliance, Snap and Aspire.
