What's the interview process like at CenTrak?
Top Employee Response
You will meet with a few managers or team members, probably 2-4 people from senior management, take a personality test, and that's it!
1. Super great call with recruiter 2. Confusing and (often more than slightly) intimidating interviews with senior management 3. Sometimes nice interviews with potential team members 4. Silly (but accurate on weaknesses) personality test
What part of CenTrak's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Top Employee Response
Guardian has the biggest difficulties. We are growing fast everywhere
Everything is growing. That's part of the issue.
What do people at CenTrak think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Ari is the best salesperson I've ever seen. If I was building a robot therapist, I might model it after him - he has great active listening mannerisms. He's won awards. He works a crazy number of hours. He could sell ice to eskimos. He's not going to stop until he either crushes the competition or owns the coolest car possible. He does need to improve upon communication. Many decisions are made behind closed doors and not communicated to the people who will carry out the work. Both the action item and the "why" behind it need to be shared. He also needs to push his management team to focus on employee growth. The company is screaming for more help, more chance to grow their skill set, and any sort of chance to be told what direction we're going in. People here are being held back. He needs to get management to see their teams less like a pile of jenga blocks stacked too high which might topple over if they make any moves and more like individual assets who can be best utilized.
Ari is a great CEO but it would be fantastic if we hired an outside COO who could take point on company wife communication and who could be more approachable.
What interview questions does CenTrak ask?
It's all over the place. If you're technical, they are going to ask you to prove what you know. Better to say, "I don't know" than to make something up. They reward honesty over bravado.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at CenTrak?
- Bean bag chairs - Espresso machine - Unlimited PTO - More bonuses - Goal setting - Conversations about continuing education / career paths - Free gym membership - Bring one middle person (someone with 2-5 years with CenTrak) to EVERY important meeting and have them take notes and send them to not just the people in the room but also to the people who need to take action
Does CenTrak have any remote positions?
Sales team is mostly remote. Training team is mostly remote. Some project managers work remotely.
How does CenTrak make decisions around promotions?
Honestly I have no idea. Some teams require very hard work and years of service. For other teams it seems like darts were thrown at a board.
How's the vacation policy at CenTrak?
10 vacation days + 5 sick days per year, prorated based on date of hire. Vacation days increase with years of service: 4-6 years = 12 days 7 -10 years = 14 days Some teams have work from home privileges. Many do not. Seven holidays per year.
How's the work life balance at CenTrak?
CenTrak as a company values face time, quick response time, and being willing to put in the hours. That being said, many have succeeded here without working hard. And there's huge variability depending on who you report to
What benefits does CenTrak provide?
Health insurance (no plan options) including dental, vision, disability, etc. 401k match. Supposedly profit sharing is coming soon but don't hold your breath. Oh! And free lunch M-Th
What's the company culture like at CenTrak?
Top Employee Response
CenTrak's development team is awesome. They work hard but are also super silly. We have nerf wars (after hours) and occasional outings for things like bowling or paintball (during hours). The team would rather keep working or go play ping pong than disperse and go home. Oh, and the team is uber smart.
