Our founders, Lord Willie Haughey and Lady Susan Haughey, have made philanthropy a major part of their mission. Lord and Lady Haughey started City Charitable Trust in 2002 and donated over £5 million during the first 5 years. Since then, Lord Haughey has donated around £10million to charities, organizations and individuals across Glasgow, Scotland.
Additionally, Lord Haughey assists with The Youth with Hope campaign which aims to encourage businesses to hire young people and supports Entrepreneurial Spark (ESpark) by providing free office space, phones and computers for new companies. Lastly, Lord Haughey has sent City Refrigeration engineers to West Africa to drill water wells, which has brought fresh water to 47,000 people.
As of 2021, Lord and Lady Haughey have made plans to spend more than £1 billion to build 11,000 affordable homes in Scotland over the next nine years.
At City Facilities Management (US) LLC, our founder’s inspirational passion for supporting our communities has continued as part of the City Way. My City Cares was created in 2020 which includes the My City Cares Fund, a financial hardship fund that offers grants to team members in need, and Paid Volunteer Day which allows full-time team members to volunteer outside of the organization on paid time (8 hours).
