Before setting up your custom domain, please be advised, we currently do not support HTTPS/SSL for accounts with custom domains through our standard setup process. If you'd like to add SSL support for your Custom Domain, you can use CloudFlare, which we will detail at the bottom of this page
How do I set up my custom domain?
First, you'll need either an individual Pro Plan or a Team/Business Plan. Our Free plans do not include custom domain options.
You can see more details about our plans at www.getcloudapp.com/pricing.
If you are a Pro user, you can set your custom domain by visiting:visit my.cl.ly/customize
First, youll need to buy a domain from a registrar. This usually costs $10-$40 per year. Then youll need to follow the registrars instructions to point the domain to our servers.
For a sub-domain like www.example.com or cloud.example.com you need to create a CNAME record named "www" or "cloud" and point it to proxy.cld.me
Using an apex domain like example.com is not recommended unless your DNS provider supports CNAME-like functionality for the apex domain (naked domain). If our IP addresses were to change, you would need to manually update your DNS records. Using a subdomain with a CNAME means that we can make this change for you. Should you absolutely want to use an apex domain, you must use A records pointing them to the following three IPs:
54.225.234.28
107.21.221.9
54.204.45.179
Providers that support CNAME-like functionality on the apex (root) domain include: CloudFlare (free and paid), PointDNS (free and paid), NS1 (free and paid) DNSimple (paid), DNS Made Easy (paid), easyDNS (paid). You can find more details on each provider below.
Onceyou'vedone this, you may need to wait up to 72 hours for the change to take effect.
If you have verified that your domain is configured properly, visit your account page and enter your custom domain (i.e. www.example.com or cloud.example.com), and click Update. Now you can share files with your own domain.

Enable SSL on Custom Domains with CloudFlare
If you'd like to setup your own Custom Domain using SSL, you can do so using CloudFlare (if you're on a CloudApp Team plan or Pro Plan only--not available for free individual CloudApp users)
1. Sign up for an account at
2. Point your apex domain to CloudFlareas your nameserver (DNS service).
3. Create a subdomain like "drops" and point it to proxy.cld.me and ensure it's not acting as a CDN. Make it a pass-through connection so it's only using CloudFlare as a DNS.
4. Use the "Full SSL" certificate.
5. Wait up to an hour and you should be good to go!
Our desktop apps don't support generating HTTPS links yet. If you want to force HTTPS on your drop links you need to go to 'Crypto' tab in CloudFlare and enable these features:
- Always use HTTPS
-Automatic HTTPS Rewrites

View ArticleCloudApp has three different link types: share, direct and download.
1. Share links: https://cl.ly/2J0j2W1E2i3N
Use a share link when you would like to have an easily viewable page to access the file or image. These also auto-expand/unfurl in apps like Slack and HipChat to display a smaller version of the file in-line.
2. Direct links: https://cl.ly/2J0j2W1E2i3N/Screen%20Recording%202016-07-26%20at%2012.19%20PM.gif
Direct links are used to access a file directly and bypass the viewer page. You can use them to paste an image directly into an HTML code of your web page.
3. Download links: https://cl.ly/2J0j2W1E2i3N/download/Screen%20Recording%202016-07-26%20at%2012.19%20PM.gif
Download links are helpful when you want a link to automatically trigger a download and save to the users computer.
