Executive Bio

Mr. Derek Sammann has been Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Commodities and Options Products at CME Group Inc. since May 10, 2016. Mr. Sammann is responsible for leading the development, execution and management of CME Group's global Commodities portfolio, including the Energy, Metals and Agricultural business lines. Mr. Sammann also globally leads its cross-asset class Options business. He acquired more than 16 years of sell-side trading experience in the global FX market. Mr. Sammann served as Senior Managing Director of Commodity and Options Products at CME Group Inc. since September 15, 2014. Mr. Sammann serves as the Senior Managing Director of Global Head of Commodities and Options Products of CME Group at Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. He served as Senior Managing Director of FX, Metals and Options Solutions at CME Group Inc and served as its Senior Managing Director of Financial Products and Services since October 2009. He served as Managing Director of Foreign Exchange Products of Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. Since joining CME Group in September 2006, he served as Managing Director of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Products at CME Group Inc. since February 2010 and Global Head of Foreign Exchange. He served as Managing Director of Financial Products and Services at CME Group Inc. since October 2009. He joined CME from Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank in London, where he served as Managing Director, Global Head of FX Options and Structured FX Products. At Calyon, he was responsible for expanding and diversifying product revenues by building and managing the product platform, technology, trading and structured products offering in it's global FX options business. In 2004, he was responsible for merging the FX Options activities of Credit Agricole Indosuez and Credit Lyonnais to create a top-tier player in the global FX options market. Prior to becoming Global Head at Calyon, he worked as Senior Vice-President and Chief Dealer, FX options for Credit Agricole Indosuez in London and as Vice-President and Senior Trader, FX options at Banque Indosuez in Paris. He began his career as Associate Vice President and Head CME FX Options Floor Trader for Cooper, Neff & Associates in Chicago. He serves as a Director of Dubai Mercantile Exchange Limited. He serves on the Board of Directors of CME Europe Ltd., COMEX Board of Governors and the Commodities Markets Council, where he also serves as Treasurer. Sammann also served on the Founder's Council and as Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Professionals Association (FXPA) when launched in 2014. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the Northwestern University.
