Dr. Mark S. Sobey, Ph.D. has been an Executive Vice President and General Manager of Oem Laser Sources at Coherent, Inc. since May 2010 and since November 2016 respectively. Dr. Sobey served as General Manager of Specialty Laser Systems Business Group at Coherent, Inc. since May 2010 to October 09, 2017. Dr. Sobey has served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for the SLS Business Group, which primarily serves the Microelectronics and Research markets, since joining Coherent in July 2007. Prior to Coherent, Dr. Sobey spent over 20 years in the Laser and Fiber Optics Telecommunications industries, including roles as Senior Vice President Product Management at Cymer from January 2006 through June 2007. He served as Senior Vice President of Sales of JDS Uniphase Corp. from April 2004 to October 26, 2005. He served as a Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing of Jds Uniphase Corp. from May 2002 to April 2004. From January 2001 to May 2002, Dr. Sobey was Vice President of Sales, North America. Dr. Sobey served as Director of Sales, North America from July 2000 to January 2001 and from December 1999 to June 2000, he was Director of Sales, North America with E-TEK. Prior to E-TEK, Dr. Sobey was Vice President/General Manager with Spectra-Physics Inc. Dr. Sobey received his PhD in Engineering and BSc in Physics, both from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.
